Learning from last year's later arrival, the Tribune Press made an overview of the situation last Friday afternoon and with a well thought out game plan already in place, it was figured that all of us would catch the \little dickens\ off guard. With noises within the school that could not be pinpointed, the children, teachers, this reporter and other staff were on the move to \catch\ those little green elves before the day got away from us. Lookouts were quickly posted and traps were set and left over the weekend all to no avail. With green elf dust and footprints galore covering the area in and between kindergarten and first grade those little pranksters were really on their game and they slipped out of our grasp once more. Doors were unlocked to reveal a mess everywhere and the well thought out traps were sprung and left with \gold\ treats contained in the famous little black kettles shown as a counterpart at the end of the rainbow. Estimates of their timely departure was done before 8am and they were probably already headed down Route 11 south with disguises so good that then- own moms wouldn't recognize them. Trooper Bryan Shippee of the Gouvemeur station was on scene and took down many eye witness reports of sprung traps along with documenting the numerous tiny green footprints that showed their early morning escape through the small window panes. The investigation is continuing according to school officials, however, it has been readily accepted that the \imps\ from Ireland have had the last laugh once more.
