Frederic Leach Taking over new parish By Dick Sterling The Reverend Frederic Leach of the Trinity Episcopal Church of Gouverneur will conduct his last service in Gouverneur this Sunday. Father Leach, who has' guided the local parish for exactly five years, and his family will soon be moving on to his new assignment at the Trinity Episcopal Church of Lansingburgh, NY., the old- est settlement in the City of Troy. Father Leach moved to Gouverneur from Lajunta, Colorado, a city of 12,000, when a position opened up in New York because he and his wife, both New York natives, began to miss contact with their families. In addition, Father Leach said that he \looked forward to my duties in Gou- verneur because of the fact that I would be able to work with the teen ministry in Gou- verneur, Waddington, Nor- wood and Colton to conduct weekly seminars and work- shops and guide the youth of these parishes.\ When asked what projects he has enjoyed most in Gou- verneur, he said he had \en- joyed working with Marble City Housing, Cambray Court Associates and Cambray Court Corp.\ Father Leach served as treasurer of all three of these local groups, whose aim is to assist people with housing and repairs to their own homes. He also said that he would miss his work in the clericus and the deanery. When asked what his concerns were in the commu- nity Father Leach mentioned he was \very concerned with school issues,\ and then spoke briefly about his concerns when off-track betung came to Gou- verneur and located its betung FLLLERVILLE COMMUNITY CHURCH Rev. Father Leach said that the entire con- troversy \got too much pub- licity.\ He said that he was \just taking a stand/' adding that he \didn't like the fact that the village board chose to work with OTB and against my church.\ When asked what he would miss most about Gou- verneur, Father Leach said without hesitation that he \would miss the many won- derful people both inside and outside of the parish.\ He added that Gouverneur is a nice place to live and has a bright out- look. One thing the local pas- tor said he would like to see in Gou vcmeur's future is \to have the village and town boards get together and come up with a package on what our commu- nity has to offer and push to bring in industry to the area.*' He felt that this approach would really be a help to the area.
