Johnson, 71, Fulton, •bute 3, • native of Fine were Thursday at the Hartcr-Oim- sead Funeral Home, 5305 Washington Avc., Mexico. Burial was in Vermillion Cemetery, Fulton. Mrs. Johnson died Nov. 25 in Lee Memorial Hospital, Fulton. S urviving arc her husband, Earl C; a son, Harold, Mex- ico; a daughter, Elaine Dud- den, Denver, seven grandchil- dren, three great-grandchil- dren; two sisters, Marion Rut- ledge, Rome, and Jean Hines, BoonviUe; and four brothers, Raymond Stalker, Buffalo, William Clark, Evans Mills, Norman Clark, Clayton, and Bfenjamin Stalker. Born in Fine, she lived in the Fulton area 43 years. She married Earl C. Johnson June 24, 1945, in Watertown with the Rev. Merritt W. Updyke, then pastor of Hope Presbyte- rian Church, officiating. She and her husband were the owners and operators of Johnson Auction Service in Mexico since 1964. Melvin L. Thompson ANTWERP—Francis J. Mousaw, Jr.,63,17 Van Buren SL, died Sunday afternoon in E. J. Noble Hospital, Gou- verneur. Private funeral services will be held today at Green Funeral Home, with Rev. Euclid Marier, pastor of SL Michael's Church, Antwerp, officiating. Burial wiU be in new SL James Cemetery, Gouverneur. Donations may be made to the Antwerp Rescue Squad. Surviving ae his wife, Irma; two sons, Ray, Cleve- land, NY, and Bill, Cogan Sta- tion, Pa.; two grandchildren; a brother, Charles R. Mousaw, Gouverneur, and nieces and nephews. A brother, Donald, died before him. He was born July 26,1927 in Gouverneur, a son of Francis and Bessie Clark Mousaw, and attended Gouverneur schools. Mr. Mousaw served in the U.S. Army during World War II and married Irmgard Schultz in Germany in 1947. The couple had resided in Antwerp since 1954. He had been emplopyed with SL Joe Minerals Coq). for 32 years. He was an avid hunter. HAILESBORO — The funeral for Dorothy Wemyss, 80, of 5570 River Drive, was Sunday at the Green Funeral Home in Gouverneur, with the Rev. Stanley E. Brown, pastor of the United Church of Richville, officiating. Burial was in Hailesboro Cemetery. Mrs. Wem y ss died Thurs- day at the Edward John Noble Hospital in Gouverneur. Surviving are two sons, James C. Wemyss Jr. of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Charles C. Wemyss of Needham, Mass.; twodaughters, Dorothy Schumacher of Palm Beach, Fla., and Darya Swift of River- side, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, John Murray of Ca- nastota; a sister, Kate Olden of Canastota; and nieces and nephews. She was born March 2 f 1910, in Lincklaen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John MuiTay. She attended Canasiola schools and she also attended business school in Syracuse. She moved to the Gou- verneur area in 1935 and was active in civic affairs. Her marriage to James C. Wemyss Jr. ended in divorce. Mr. Wemyss succeeded his father as owner of Rushmore Paper Mill, later the Groveton Paper Co., at Natural Dam. Groveton merged with Dia- mond International Corp. in 1968, and the James River Corp. bought the mill in 1983 from Diamond International. Mrs. Wemyss was a for- mer secretary-treasurer of the Empire State Region of the Classic Car Club of America. She also was a member of the Gouverneur Edward John Noble Hospital board and aux- iliary and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was formerly active in the Gou- verneur Country Club. Florence B. Baldock HERMON—The funeral for Melvin L. \Shorty\ Th- ompson, 79, Hermon was Tuesday at the Denesha Fu- oeral Home, DeKalb Junction, the Rev. William Masters offi- ciating. Burial was in Old DeKalb Cemetery. Mr. Thompson died Sat- urday night at A. Barton Hep- burn Hospital, Ogdensburg. Contributions may be made to the Hermon Rescue Squad. •* Surviving are a cousin, Mrs. Emma Thompson, new Smyrna Beach, Fla. A brother, Milford Th- ompson, died before him. Born May 29,1911, in the Town of DeKalb, son of Frank and Malina Laraby Thompson, he served in the Army from 1942 to 1945 in Newfound- land. He operated a farm on the old DeKalb-DePeyster Road with his brother until they re- tired in 1976. He had lived at the John and Beulah Davis residence for the past six years. Cecile Ehlers James M. Ryan LAKE PLACID—James M. Ryan, 88, of 5 Colden Ave., died Nov. 7 at Placid Memo- rial Hospital. Services were held at Clark Funeral Home and at St Agnes Church in Lake Placid. Burial was in SL Agnes Ceme- tery. Donations may be made to the Monsignor La Valley Scholarship Fund, in care of SL Agnes Rectory or Clark Funeral Home. Surviving are his wife, Clara Davies Ryan of Lake Placid, formerly of Richville; three brothers, Edward of Schenectady, and Robert and Donald, both of Lake Placid; four sisters, Miss Marguerite Ryan, Miss Winifred Ryan and Mrs. Frances S track, all ofLake Placid, and Mrs. Rita Grady of Kissimmee, Fla., and several nieces and nephews. Bom April 26, 1902, in Chateaguay, he was a son of Jermiah and Catherine Dar- mody Ryan. He worked as a supply clerk for the Lake Placid Club stores for 41 years before retir- ing in 1966. He was a 60-year member of the Lake Placid Council Knights of Columbus. NEWTONFALLS—The funeral for Ehlers, 91, formerly of Newton Falls, will be at 11 a.m. today at SL Hubert's Church with the Rev. Theo- dore Gillette officiating. Bur- ial will be in Oswegatchie Cemetery. Mrs. Ehlers died Saturday morning at Pinebrook Nursing Home, Nokomis, Fla. Arrangements are with the Hawley Funeral Home, Star Lake. Surviving are a son, Karl, Nokomis; a daughter, Mrs. Leland (Carol) Delair, Star Lake; four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Born Aug. 18,1899, in St. Jerome, Quebec, daughter of Wilfred and Auralie Luzon Gray, she married Karl Ehlers Aug. 13, 1919, in Richfield Springs. Mr. Ehlers worked at the Newton Falls Paper Mill. He died Jan. 20,1985. Mrs. Ehlers had been a resident of Nokomis for the past eight years. She was a former commu- nicant of SL Anthony's Church and a life member of the auxil- iary of Mervin Eno Post 1539 American Legion. Edna R. Eggleston Ruth P. Hebert OGDENSBURG — The funeral for Ruth P. Hebert, 74, ef 622 Gates SL, was Monday at the Lalonde-Briggs Funeral ttome, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Notre Dame Church. Burial was in Notre Dame Cemetery. • Mrs. Hebert died Friday inorning at the A. Barton Hepburn Hospital Auxiliary, Notre Dame Church, the Ogdensburg Home Bureau and the Ogdensburg Guild. THERESA—The funeral for Edna R. Eggleston, 91, formerly of Theresa and Gou- verneur was Saturday at Frederick Brothers Funeral Home with the Rev. Steven Becker, pastor of the Theresa United Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial was in Oak wood Cemetery in the family ploL Mrs. Eggleston died Thursday at the United Help- ers Cedars Nursing Home, Ogdensburg, were she had been a resident since SepL 14,1989. Surviving are a brother, Carl Weldon, Gou verneur, and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was born May 16, 1899, in the town of Alexan- dria, a daughter of Cornelius Ferdinand and Walpurga Elk Weldon. She attended local schools and married Oscar P. Eggleston may 30,1917. The couple lived two years in Redwood before moving to a residence at 206 Pine St., Theresa. They owned and op- erated garages in Redwood and Theresa, retiring in 1974. Mr. Eggleston died May 31,1979, at the age of 87. Mrs. Eggleston moved to Gouverneur in the early 1980s where she made her home with her brother, Carl. She lived there until entering the nursing home last year. She was a member of the Theresa United Presbyterian Church. LISBON — The funeral for Florence B. Baldock, 88, formerly of Forsy the Road, was Saturday at Fox Funeral Home in Heuvelton. The Rev. Roy Ward, pastor of Wesleyan Church, officiated. Burial was at White Church Cemetery in Lisbon. Mrs. Baldock died Nov. 28 in the Skilled Nursing Fa- cility of A. Barton Hepburn Hospital in Ogdensburg. Donations may be made to the Ogdensburg Volunteer Rescue Squad. Surviving are four sons, Edwin of Syracuse, David of Lisbon, Lewis of Silver Springs, Fla., and Clifford of Ogdensburg; three daughters, Mrs. Flossie Planty of Rensse- laer Falls, Mrs. Elsie Carr of Canton and Mrs. Elaine Hawk of Heuvelton; 32 grandchil- dren, several great-grandchil- dren and great-great-grandchil- dren. She was predeceased by her husband, James H. Bal- dock, died Sept. 26,1969; four sons, Francis, Carl, Webster and James; and a brother, Lewis Sham pine. Mrs. Baldock was bom in Parishville on Jan. 24, 1902, daughter of Lewis C. and Mary Furney Shampine. She at- tended Parish ville schools. She married James H. Baldock on OCL 1, 1922, at the Presbyte- rian Church in Green Island, with the Rev. Thomas D. Elder officiating. Before marrying, she worked at the former Seymour House Hotel in Ogdensburg and the former Oswegatchie House Hotel. Until 1958, she and her husband operated a family farm on Mud Lake Road in DePeyster. Mrs. Baldock continued to live on the farm until 1984, when she moved to Lisbon. Mrs. Baldock had been in the Skilled Nursing Facility at A. Barton Hepburn Hospital since 1988. She was a member of Wesleyan Church and a life- time member of St. Lawrence County RJE.A.C.T. Also, Mrs. Phil- lip Priest had dinner with them. The Triple Mcns Club entertained their families at their hunting camp on Sunday with a nice dinner. Deer season closed on Sunday and I am sure the deer will be happy to roam freely. Mr. and Mrs. John Kinney and Mrs. Diane Kelley gave a Thanksgiving dinner last Thursday for Mr. and Mrs. Carl Taylor and Janet; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Kinney and girls; Tammy and Chelsey, Tony Simmons, and Matt Foster. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Tyler had a quiet Thanksgiving at home with her mother, Mrs. Josephine Mayhcw. Miss Angel Thompson spent the Thanksgiving holi- day with her day, Douglas Thompson, and all were din- ner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Thompson forThanks- giving. Mrs. Alcta Billings spent Thanksgiving Day with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Bradley Love. Weekend guests of Mrs. Aleta Billings were Mrs. Rich- ard Whitaker and daughter Stacy from Sandy Creek. On Friday evening, Mrs. Billings entertained at dinner Mr. and Mrs. Bradley Love, Heather Love, Jeffrey and Darin, also Joann Whitaker, Stacy, Joan Wight, Melissa and Jonathan, Ruth Whitaker and Lcnora Seavey. Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Thompson drove to Manch- ester, N.H., where they re- turned their granddaughter, Angel, to college. On the way home, they stopped at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Brown, whonow lives in Hudson Falls, N.Y. Fowler By Cindy Fuller Vern Shippee, Albany, and Mr. and Mis. David Ship- pee and Anna, Fort Edward, were Thanksgiving weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. How- ard Shippee and Claude. On Nov. 23 they enjoyed Thanks- giving and celebrated Christ- mas at Shippee's camp on Hickory Lake. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ship- pee and Michael, Harrisville, and Mr. and Mrs. James Blance,Macomb. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Thompson spent Nov. 21-26 with Mr. and Mrs. Ed Malys and children, Syracuse. Roger Thompson also was a guest for Thanksgiving. Mrs. James Fuller called Nov. 29 on her aunt, Freida Price, Cam bray Court Mr. and Mrs. James Fuller were in Watertown, Nov. 30at which lime Jim consulted his eye doctor.
