There is one more on Monday, Dec. 3. It isn't too late; if you like to sing, you are welcome. The choir will sing during the morning service at Brasie Corners on Dec. 9. The prac- tices are at 7:45 at the Brasie Corners. Loraine Bogardus of Morristown is the accompa- nist. The Oxbow Presbyterian Women will hold their Christ- mas meeting at noon Dec. 12 at the home of Candy Henderson at Somerville. Bring your own dishes and a dish to pass. There will be a Christmas program. The Oxbow Historical As- sociation will hold their cov- ered dish Christmas dinner at 6:30p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12 at the home of Beulah Walrath. There will be an exchange of a fun gift, the value not to ex- ceed $2. Also, bring a gift that you received sometime and tell why it is a favorite, Don' t forget the firemen * s auxiliary's Craft Fair on Satur- day, Dec. 1, from 9 to 5 at the fire hall. The fire department will hold their annual Christmas party on Dec. 16. More details later. Ken and Helen Crawford accompanied Don and Susan Turnbull to Palmyra last Sat- urday, where they were the guests of Candace Turnbull. The Crawfords' son Philip met them there. They returned home with him to Hilton and stayed until Friday. On Friday they returned home with Can- dace who came to Oxbow to visit her parents. Jennifer Lmnan of Dub- lin, Calif., and Debbie Clark and son Willie of Pleasant Valley visited their grand- mother, Eleanor Jones, Mon- day. They all spent the after- noon with Hazel Hansford in Gouvemeur. Many Crawford of the Rochester area spent the week- end with his grandparents, Ken and Helen Crawford, and they spent Sunday with Helen's brother, Bill Collins, of Star Lake. Dave and Joyce Bancroft have a new roof on their house. A tree limb came down in a recent wind storm and punched a hole in the old roof. The village is beginning to show signs of Christmas. Several houses have their lights out The county finished put- ting shoulders on the road they paved last summer. Itcertainly seems good not to have that drop off. Ray and Mary Kirker had visits from all their children Thanksgiving Day. Jeff and Julie and children had dinner with them. Jeff and Julie Kirker cele- brated their 12th anniversary on Nov. 25. Autumn Kirker observed her 10th birthday on Nov. 18. Gerald and Helen Chish- olm, Ina Chisholm and Lucille Honeywell had Thanksgiving dinner with Dave and Barb Dimon on the Theresa Road. Thanksgiving Day guests of Tom and Judy Wood were Florence Wood, Doris and Jenneue Chisholm, Mae Hawn of Gouvemeur, Grace and Dale Hutton of Macomb and Ever- ett and Joy Markwick and family of Gouvemeur. Barbara Scott of William- sen spent last week with Doris and Jennette Chisholm. Barb's son Henry Ludwig, who lives in Gouvemeur, got a seven- point buck last week. Mary Kirker's father, Clarence Cummings, who lives at the Kinney Nursing Home, was able to come home for Thanksgiving. Joyce Bancroft enter- tained her grandchildren, Andrew and Pamela Backus of Theresa, over the weekend. Congratulations to Charee Cook, who is on the JCC honor roil. Dave and Joyce Bancroft entertained 30 members of their families for Thanksgiving dinner. 1 didn't get too many calls with news this week. Maybe next week wdl be better. much better. There will be a combined meeting of the South Edwards Finance Committee and Ad- ministrative Council of the United Methodist Church at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29 at the home Eleanor Austin. Friday evening visitors, Nov. 16 at the Bridgeland home were Dorothy and Kermit Jones, Harold Jones and Judy and Ron Holly. Judy brought a cake to celebrate Harold and Jennie's birthdays. On Satur- day, Fay and Carol Bridgeland and son Toby of Fort Coving- ton had lunch with his mother. Stella Shank spent the Nov. 17 and 18 weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Briggs at West Eaton, NY. On Saturday night, they attended a recep- tion for Melvin Briggs, who is a new grand officer in the Easter Star. It was a combined recep- tion with two other grand offi- cers, all from the Conland - Madison District, and was held at Oneida Chapter, Oneida. Sunday dinner guests, Nov.. 18 of Kermitand Dorothy Jones were Sheri Sharpe and sons Kyle and Christopher of Bigelow, Sheila Bullock and children, Mandy and Steven, Karla Jones, Harold Jones, Franklin Finch, Tim Jones, Ron Holly and son Mark, Gou- vemeur. Dorothy had cake and icecream to celebrate Harold's birthday. Lester Ward and Harold Jones attended the right worshipful's meeting and din- ner at the Best Western, Can- ton, on Sunday evening, Nov. 18. Oswegatchie Chapter #192, OES met on Tuesday evening, Nov. 20, for a regular meeting. Membership certifi- cates were given out. Receiv- ing a 50-year certificate and pin was Ardis Ward. Gloria Auson and Janet Gotham re- ceived 30-year life certificates. Not present but earning 30- year life certificates were; Florine Dunn, Alfreda LaP- lante, Irmtraud Backus, Bar- bara Gilmore and Gary Smith. The next meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4. There will be election of offi- cers and some reports. Follow- ing the meeting there will be a Christmas party and gift ex- change. The chapter will be recessed after this meeting until January. Visitors of Jennie Bridge- land on Nov. 20 were Belinda Bush, Tamara Perry, Shawn and Christopher Wilmarth of Oswegatchie Kermit and Dorothy Jones and Linda Perry. Jim and Janet Devenport and children Jonathan and Jay and Leona Hodgkiss called on the Devenport's daughter, Joanne, at Great Bend and Tina Hutchins and son Michael of Watertown on Thanksgiving night. They also called on Leona's daughter and son-in- law, Elaine and Kenneth Hoch, Beaver Falls. Also visiting the Hochs were their son, Michael and wife and daughter of Jamestown, Robert Hoch, his wife and daughter of Croghan and Douglas Hoch and friend. Friends of Douglas and Mary Newby of Hammond, R.D. were sorry to hear of his passing away. Much sympa- thy is extended to his family Prescott and her friend Pauy, who has been visiting Sandy, from Florida, enjoyed having lunch with Avis and Shirley Todd at the China Dc U Restau- rant in Ogdensburg. We were sorry to hear that a great Mason and Eastern Star member and a dear friend, Douglas Newby, of Black Lake Road, passed away Tuesday evening at his home. He is sur- vived by his wife, Mary; two children, Lisa and Matthew, and several brothers, nieces and nephews. Doug and Mary rode with Gloria Austin and me to an OES convention in Niagara Falls a month ago. We had ? great time with lots of laughs and fond memories to remem- ber our good friend Doug by. We will surely miss him. Avis and Shirley Todd visited Ed and Helen Levac and Kevin on Tuesday eve- ning, Nov. 2. Chris and Tammy Hon- sky enjoyed their turnkey din- ner on Saturday, Nov.. 17 with her family, Roger and Vi Fin- ley and Deann of North Gou- vemeuron Thanksgiving Day. Tammy and Chris did a great deed and traveled to Water- town to help the Salvation Army serve turkey dinner to the less fortunate. That sounds like a better idea to me than watching football for 12 long .hours! Mr. and Mrs. William Ellis of Syracuse and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Todd of Pittsburgh ar- rived on Wednesday, Nov. 21 to enjoy the Thanksgiving Day holiday with Avis ad Shirley Todd, Ralph Hardy, Kim and Tim Richards and family. Mike and Jessica left Thursday af- ternoon for Saranac Lake to spend Thanksgiving with her family before returning to Pittsburgh. Eva and Bill left on Saturday to go home. We had phone calls from Dana and Jo, Isabella, Larry and Helen, in Florida, Mae in Syracuse, Ora in N.H., Betty Hardy and G1 enn, Canton and Potsdam. It was quite a holiday, as mom, Eva and Ralph hadn't had Thanksgiving together in 56 years. After dinner bill, Jim and John trav- eled to Stony Brook to their hunting camp, to enjoy a little deer hunting over the week- end. Mr. and Mrs. Perry Ster- ling entertained their daugh- ter, Barbara Redden, and son, Gabriel, of Rochester, who came on Wednesday, Nov. 21, and left 10 go home on Sunday.
