Whiunarsh, 86, Edwards, was Monday at the French Funeral Home, with the Rev. Anthony Sarnicola of Fowler Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery. Mrs. Whitmarsh died Fri- day evening at Clifton-Fine Hospital, Star Lake, were she had been a patient since Nov. 15. Donations may be made to the Fowler Church or the Clifton-Fine Hospital. She is survived by a son, Richard H. Whitmarsh; two daughters, Mrs. Louis (Jean A.) Zaluski, Edwards, and Mrs. Salvatore (Sally I.) Capone, Star Lake; two sisters, Miss Nellie Archer and Mrs. Ernest (Doris) Smith, both of Adams; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. A brother, Frederick Archer, and a sister, Ruth Archer, died before her. Mrs. Whitmarsh was bom Nov.. 14, 1905, in Belleville, daughter of George and Flora Waite Archer. She attended Belleville Academy and married Hazen D. Whiunarsh on March 23, 1928, at the Methodist parson- age in Belleville. Mr. Whitmarsh died in 1965. Mrs. Whitmarsh, an Ed- wards resident from 1928 to 1985, when she moved to Star Lake to live with her daughter, was a member of the village's Methodist Church and EamscliffRebekah Lodge 363. GOUVERNEUR — The funeral for Thomas H. Serv- ice, 87, of 164 E. Main SL, was Monday at the Trainor Funeral Home, Boonville, and at St. Peter'sandPauTsChurch.Fish Creek, with the Rev. Gerald H. Service presiding. Burial was in St. Peter's and Paul's Ceme- tery, Fish Creek. Mr. Service died Thurs- day at the home of his son, the Rev. Gerald H. Service, St. James Rectory. Surviving are three sons, Leslie V., Madison, Ronald T., Mount Morris, and Father Service, pastor of SL James* Church, Gouverneur; five grandchildren; several great- grandchildren and a sister, Lillian Rathbone Lynch, Wa- tertown. A brother, Stuart, died before him. Born in Utica on march 9, 1903, a son of William and Elizabeth Weiler Service, he attended rural schools in the Fish Creek area. He married Cecelia A. Matt on Jan. 2,1936, at St. Joseph's Church, Lee Center. She died April 10, 1984. Helen D. Caswell Kathleen M. Dindl ANTWERP — The fu- neral for Kathleen M. Dindl, 64, Antwerp-Spragueville Road, was S unday at the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur, with the Rev. Kenneth R. Lea- mon, pastor of the Antwerp and Spragueville Methodist Churches, officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery. Mrs. Dindl died early Thursday at er home. . Contributions may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County Inc., P.O. Box 677, Watertown. t Surviving are her husband, Joe; five sons, Guy Hall and Steven Dindl, both of Phila- delphia, Gary and Harry Dindl, both of Antwerp, and Frank Dindl, Mount Hope, N.J.; five daughters, Lynn Wake and Christina Snyder, both of Antwerp, Lanalee Hall, Ver- non Center, Ann LePine, Red- wood, and Karen Sherwood, Wharton, N.J.; 13 grandchil- dren; a great-grandchild; a brother, Lee Reynolds, Antwerp, and nieces and neph- ews. A brother, Gerald Rey- nolds, died before her. She was born Jan. 15, 1926, in Antwerp, a daughter of Guy and Hazel Fuller Rey- nolds. She attended Antwerp schools. She married Joe Junior Dindl Jan. 5,1954, in Antwerp. A previous marriage to Willis Hall had ended in divorce. Mrs. Dindl and her hus- band, Joe, had resided on the Antwerp-Spragueville Road for the past 35 years. She was a member of the Antwerp American Legion Auxiliary. GOUVERNEUR — He- len D. (Nonnie) Caswell, 93, of 81 Park St., an artist, died Friday at the Cedars Nursing Home, Ogdensburg, were she had been a resident since Nov. 15. The funeral was at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Frederick Leach, rec- tor of Trinity Episcopal Church,officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery. Arrangements were with the Sprague-French Funeral Home. Donations may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church or the Gouverneur Volunteer Rescue Squad. Mrs. Caswell is survived by a son, Nelson R., Jackson- ville, Fla.; a daughter, Honey C. Whalen, Gouverneur, with whom she had lived for 12 years; 10 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. A son, George R. Caswell Jr., two brothers, Herbert and William Draper, and two sis- ters, Marion Herrman and Frances Vines, died before her Mrs. Caswell was born April 9, 1897, in Gouverneur, a daughter of William and Grace Keech Draper. She was graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1915 and from Watertown Business School in 1916. She worked as a secretary at the Gouverneur Lace Mill from 1916 to 1918 and was a life- long village resident. She married George R. Caswell on May 31, 1917, at Trinity Episcopal Church, with the Rev. William A. Braith- waite officiating. Mr. Caswell died Dec. 2, 1955. Mrs. Caswell was an artist who specialized in local land- scapes and architectural scenes. She had a display at Gou- verneur Historical Museum in 1985. She was a member of Trin- ity Episcopal Church and an avid bridge player and had been a member of the Gouverneur Bowling League. Helen Gish STAR LAKE — The funeral for Helen Gish, 69, Marshall Avenue, longtime resident of Star Lake, was Nov. 21 at the First Baptist Church, Oswegatchie, with the Rev. Frederick E. Rogers, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Oswegatchie Cemetery. Mrs. Gish died Nov. 16 at the Seatoma Convalescent Center, Seattle, Wash., after a long illness. Surviving are a son, John, Seattle; a daughter, Barbara, Seattle, and two sisters, Nellie Swartz and Marjorie Maslyk, •both of Burgettstown, Pa. She was born in 1921, at BurgetLstown, Pa. She was born in 1921, at Burgetistown, a daughter of Steve and Mary Yedlowsky Bettley. She attended Bur- gettstown area schools. She married Cecil Gish Nov.. 10, 1947 in Pennsylva- nia. The couple moved to Star Lake in 1948. Mr. Gish was employed by various construc- tion companies in the Star Lake area. He died in May 1976, at the age of 66. Mrs. Gish was a member of the Oswegatchie First Bap- tist Church. including dinner and brunch, has been donated by the Ramada Inn in the Olympic community. Plans for the early holiday sale are being finalized by co- chairmen Margaret Webster and Janice Dodds and their committees. Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., consisting of soup, sand- wiches and dessert. Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus will greet children from 6 to 8 p.m. Features of the sale will inc 1 ude baked foods and candy, holiday decorations, arrange- ments and wreaths; \hand- mades,\ ornaments and gifts, surprise table, new and nearly- new articles and crafts. Moore, 73, of 17 Dodge Place, for- merly of Trinity Avenue, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Green Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank I. Smith, pastor of the Gouverneur United Meth- odist Church, officiating. Bur- ial will be in Gulf Cemetery, town of Fowler. Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Moore died Sunday morning at the House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown, were she had been a patient for two days. Surviving are er husband, Ervin W.; four sons, Richard Brown, Gouverneur, Edward Gibbs and Sherman Moore, both of Fort Worth, Texas, and Jerry George, Tampa, Fla.; sev- eral grandchildren and a half- brother, William Brown, Ogdensburg. She was born May 18, 1917, at Natural Bridge, a daughter of Nelson and Rose Duchano Brown, and was raised by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Edmond Brown. She attended schools at Natural Bridge and Degrasse. She married Ervin W. Moore Aug. 13,1955, in Gou- verneur. Three previous hus- bands died before her. Mr. and Mrs. Moore lived on Trinity Avenue for several years before moving to Dodge Place five years ago. Mrs. Moore was former! y employed at the Borden's plant, Antwerp, and the Carbola plant, Natural Bndge. For the past few years she had been a baby-sitter in the Gouverneur area.
