As this wa.s near'the scene of Sun day afternoon’s hold-up, a posse of L-itiaens, including several postoffice clerks w’ho were then, about to go to supper, repaired to the scene o.n (^ion- stable George Mitchell's Black Maria. The fat ones in the party were satisfied to-let the in vestigation end here; the lean ones kept going, however, and at the top they found the body of a man lying in a crumpled position as if shot, with his coat collar and half the coat pulled up over his head. He was only a little more than half shot, however, and protested vigor ously when Milehell be.gan to snatch him down the .stairs. “I’m all right; been thi.s way lots of times,” he said. Beside him -was a bottle o.f depatm ed alcohol, so Doctor Atwell, who in. the party, sugg^ted the ^ party, suggested the case might be serious. The patient was goo<i condition Tuesday morning.
