One of the reckless statements already made by one or two Democratic news papers in tte west is that General Harri son is a large owner e f railway stocks and that consuinenlly (^iiauucey M. Depew induced the New York delegation to vote for his nomination. Nothing could be more absurdly untrue. Mr. Miller, the General’.? partner, who knows all about his financial affairs, is authority for the statement that as a matter of fact General Harrison does not own one dollar’s worth of stock of any kind. He would be richer if he did. His total income, aside from his earnings at the bar, does not exceed $1 500 a year. There is a lo*; and building rented by the [ndianapolis Bolt W irks. The property is owned by ex-Governor Porter, Colonel New and General Harrison equally. The cental amounts to $500 a year for each. Besides this tlic General owns half of another pi'ece of property in Indianapolis on the corner of East Washington and Alabama streets, which Is used for a store. His share of the rental of this amounts f ossibly to $700 a year. A GIRL’S COMPOSITION ON BOYS. Boys is men that have not got as big as their pap is, and girls is young women that will be ladies after while. * * * Man was made before woman. When God looked at Adam he said to h im self: “ Well f guess I can do better than that if I try igain,” and then he made Eve. God liked Eve so much better than he did 4dam that there has been more women than men in the world ever since. * ioys are a trouble. They are wearin’ on everything but soap. * * * If I had my way half the boys in the world would ne little girls and the other half little (iolla * * * My papa is so nice that I guess bo was a little girl when be was a little boy. RELIGIOUS NOTES. The Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church of Newburgh met Tuesday eve ning, to consider the question of uniting with the Presbyterian body, hut at the suggestion o f a member of the congrega tion, who thought that the matter had not been considered as fully as it ought to De, the meeting adjourned until Thursday of next week, when it is thought that the church will vote to enter the Presbyterian fold, for it is said that there are not more than half a dozen persons in the congrega tion who are anxious to maintain a sepa rate organization. J. W. F. Carlisle was installed as pastor of the First Reformed Presbyterian church of Newburg Tuesday evening. A little bum makes a big smart, but even a big. burn could not make some people smart enough to use Tulip soap. -Brown—“ You are looking bright and happy this morning, Dumley.” Dum- ley—“ Yes, I ’m out of debt at last.
