N bw T obk , Nov. 16.—^The General Mis sionary Committtee of the M. E, Church to day made the following appropriations for missions for 1878: East China, Pronchow, $14,000; Central China, E.n E'ang, $6 600 ; North China, Peking, Germany and Switzer- land, $20,000; Denmark, $8,000; Norway, $11,000; Sweden, $21,000;' North Indian Conference, $55,000; $4,000 to aid distressed missionaries in Bulgaria. It is reported that at least one missionary has been slaugh tered by the Turks. 16 per cent is added to the appropriations for expense of sending the money. Last year 20 pur cent was added. The Chicago F ire. CmcAao, Nov. 15.—The fire in Field & Leiter’s basement broke out again this morning, necessitating the flooding of the basement, where a large quantity of pack age goods were stored. Bride Dudley re ported killed last n ight; the only other vic tim to the flames is a fireman, who fell with the stairs from the third story to the base ment. Five men were badly injured. Tennessee Public Debt. N ashville , Tenu., Nov. 17.—Gov. Porter has received strong letters from Postmaster General Key and Senator Harris, favoring the accepting by the State, of the proposition of the Bondholders’ Assooiation, to fund the State debt at 60 cents on the dollar.
