THE APPROACHING CONFLICT BE- TWEEN LABOR AND MONOPOLY. NO. I . BY W. S . The industry of the world has no controversy with capital when employed in the legitimate channels of trade; but when capital is used to grind labor down to the lowest point, so that the producing classes have to practice the most rigid rules of self abnegation, it creates a feeling of discontent that will sooner or later find vent in some tangible form that the monopolist little dreams of in his condition of supposed security.
