The convention of Iron and Steel workers, who were in session at Columbus, Ohio, elected J. Bishop, of Pittsburg, President, and a board of trustees. Justice Van Syckle, of the Union county, N. J. Court., at Elizabeth, Saturday committed Nicholas Darby, a railroad employee, to jail /or interfering with the running of trains. The Irish Canadian pigrims arrived in New York, yesterday, from Liverpool, and were met by deputations from Montreal and New York and suitably entertained. They leave for home to-day. Twenty members of the 9th New Jersey reg- iment, who deserted during the recent strike, will be tried by a regimental court-martial. The question arises whether the period of the recent strike called a time of war; if not, de- serters are likely to escape punishment. No bail has yet been furnished Donahue, the striker. He receives a great number of letters daily, and says he desires to get to work again not caring to make any more political capital by' being locked up.
