He was sort of the nar rator. Then there wai this restaur ant where it rll took place dur ing World War Two. All the cus tomers who went to war hanged their hats on the wall Aayway tha story opens op la Dizzy's. That's the restaur ant Dizzy Is kind of the front man. His partner Is Big John. The cdp Is a member of the shore patrol when we .dash back. There Is the girl sitting alone at the bar It turns out she has DO money to pay her check and, Dizzy bawla her out and she •tarts crying and then they all am that she Isn't that type of a girl and they make her a wait ress and start calling her Pea nut*. Dtry falls in love with hr-r and she falls In love with Big John (I think he Is a Black- feet Ia«aa In real life) but Big John la too dumb to see It ta Disxy has an Idea. Ho pretends he is very drunk in all of 10 seconds and makes believe that he's making what they call a pass at Peanuts which of course makes Big John so mad he knocks his pal down. There is a splendid shot of Dizzy Dizzy getting up with a look aJ admiration on his face and saying to Big John that he sure hits hard. Xow we all knew. Including Big John, that Peanuts lo\ r% him. Bat there Is a war on and ha tolls her he's got to do his •art and he'a going Into the Merchant Service. He reminds her that those boys also get •hot at One day the shore patrolman comes In with a lieutenant who tells Peanuts that Big Johns ship was sunk and that th« \ last they saw of him he was swimming in water burning with oil after helping to get the wounded off the ship. Come VJ day and there Is a dandy shot of all of the cus tomers fighting to reclaim their fiats. That is—an but Bag John. There la a shot of what Is either Us old chefs hat or the one he should have taken into the merchant navy. Pea nuts cries.
