He looked at h e r husband and told her. softly: “This is Parkinson’s disease.” For 35 y e a rs, Doshay had ded icated him self to a lone wolf a t tempt to solve the enigm a of the disease. B u t he told Jeanne: “There is little money for re search. We need a foundation, somebody to start one.” For three years after her meeting with Doshay, Jeanne pondered w hat he had told her. With his help and advice, she worked out physical therapy methods that kept her husband mobile years longer than he oth erwise could have expected. But at last he becam e helpless and she took him to a home in Miami to care for him to the end. Then came the fall that launched her drive toward the goal Doshay had given her. With her own resources and contributions from friends, she organized the foundation. Then she went to medical men, civic leaders, giants of industry and others. A fter months of talking, she had a 42-member board of directors and a list of consulting physicians in the United States, Canada, England and India. The first clinic building would cost $350,000. When she came up $135,000 short, Jeanne went to Washington. Through a maze of red tape, she trudged from one office to another.
