Mrs. Catherine Conklin who oc cupied an apartment in one of the Gain buildings for a couple of years will move on Saturday to an apart ment in the Brownstein building. We are glad to hear Miss Shelia Taylor is recovering nicely in Mai- monides Hospital from an ear infec tion. A speedy recovery is wished by her friends. Miss Taylor ex pects to come home this week. The regular monthly meeting of Emmett Turner Unit 276 of the A- meiican Legion Auxiliary will be held at the Legion Home in Jeffer sonville on Tuesday, Nov. 5fh at 8:30 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. E. Mrs. Joseph Willis, of Cochecton, President of the Association presided at the meeting. Officers of the Sul livan County Cooperative Extension Service re-elected were: Mrs. Joseph Willis, Cochecton, president; Her* man Reinshagen, Bethel, vice presi dent; and James Wood, Liberty, se cretary. Executive Committee members Se lected were as follows: Agricultural Department, Monis Braftnan, Mon- gaup Valley; Meyer Kaplan, Wood ridge; and Mr. Reinshagen. Guest speaker of the evening was Director A. A. Johnson of the New York State Cooperative Extension Service from Cornell University at Ithaca, N. Y. “Extension work is an important part of our dynamic and ’ changing times,” Mr. Johnson said. He added that “The facts are cry stal clear — we have yet to find a more efficient operation than the family farm.” Mr. Johnson then de clared that the approximate 1,000 farms in Sullivan benefited the eco nomy more than employment of 3,000 to 5,000 industrial workers. Agent Earle ■ Wilde reporting for the Agricultural Department noted that there are 1041 current members against 948 last year at this time. He asked for 1100 by spring.
