It certainly proted a red letter day for them all. A‘H of the hoys took a keen in ter est in th e athletic events which had been planned for their am u sem ent. Ail of tho erenta were arranged in two classes, one for the larger boys aaid one for th e sm aller. T h e real feature of the program of eren ts was the unlim ited shoe race. Jn this eren t the regular plan placing all of the shoes in one pile w a s changed, hrre shoes were thrown broadcast to all com e rs of a ten acre lot. >To attem pt -was ^made to keep th© dlffw w it pairs to g e tler. It was ■on© wild Ma-ambl© on tne p a r t of all to locate hl8 own footgear. T h e w inner of this event was Dick •Bymes who succeeded in locating Ills tw o shoes and getting them on ond re ta m te g to the starting point after a lap6« of ju6t thirty-one m imites. One of th e contestants presented a hum orous sight when he presented him self to the judge w earing two shoes th a t w e re n o t m ates, neither w h ich were his own. He had the right shoe on the left foot and the left shoe on the right foot. As he scram b led up to the finish line he was funniBV th a n Charlie CTtaplin at his best. The “eats” proved a feature which no real boy could possibly. overlook. This p©rty wae m ade up of real boys end they did am ple justice to all of the good things provided for their en joym ent. The hoys did have a good tim e and their cheers a t frequent intervals were of a n a ture to let everyone know- the erctent of their pleasure.
