T h e living conditions in the Arm y are ju s t w h a t m o s t vigorous m e n need for th e i r physical w e ll-being. Every day brings an am p le am o u n t of exercise, fresh air, and good- food. Y o u rs will be a very unusual case if you do not find yonrself afte r a few m o n ths stronger, healthier and m o re buoyant th a n you have ever been in youT life. I t is tru e , on th e o th e r h a n d , th a t extrem e exertion in m a rching or fighting m a y in tim e be called for. B u t this w ill n o t be un til you are thoroughly train e d and fit. The periods of strain or exposure will probably be sh o rt and are not likely in th-emeelves to do you any real harm . A t any rate, you owe it to yourself— a n d , w h a t is m o re, you owe it to th e country— to m a k e yourself ‘•fit” a t the carU e st possible mome<nt. Sick m e n can n o t do m u c h tow a rd w inning the w a r. In the A rm y they are n o t only a loss, h u t d u ring th e ir sickness a positive handicap.
