November 11 , 19 64 Mepham V s Calhoun (Continued from page 1) Han area. When a ball club faces such perennial power - houses as East !\1eadow, Hemp.. stead and Lawrence, it's got to be either outstandinfl' or expect to pay the consequences . The Buc ship has found the sailing mighty rough t hese past few weeks, but a victory ove r C alhoun would certainly b lot out all the bad memor ies . The Bucs' offens ive attack cen - ters around fu llba c k Dennis Dore and halfbacks Larry Ross and Dan Filiberto. The quarterback slot is shared by veteran Steve Lapidus and Sophomore Val ~1ar Uno!f , who also handles the ki ck - ing chores for the Bucs. At the ends the Bucs have Chuck Mark li n and Dan Rooney, at the Guard pos ition s, Stan Joye and Phil Grebinar and at the Tackles, Tim Balunis and Tom Klz1s. Stan Jaco bsen is the Center. Colts Have Lost Two The Calhoun Colts, who played against ·section One teams this fall, have a commendable 5 - 2 record. Their only los ses came at the hands of Section champs Uniondale and tough Berner . Ther are presentl} in a second place tie with this same Berner ball club. The Colts' are led by their burly fullback Bill Schlagel and their versatile quarterback John Tarbell. Jt will certainly take the Bucs' most stal v.-art defens i ve effort to contain the Colts run- ning and passing game . When not handing off to Sch - lagel and halfback J oe Simone , Tarbell wlli mos t likel y pass to his favorite target , end Dick Crowle} ' . It was Crowley who had a starring role in last year's victory over Mepham . Making the holes tor the Colt offensive attac k 1s the task of their tre me ndous line which is anchored by Co-Cliptain Art Stoecker and tackle John Rled, Both of these boys are tou g h roes who are apt to make it mighty hard on the Mepham defense. This saturday the sues will be winding up their first campaign under their new head coach Gerry Riseber g. I' m sure the game Coach Rl sebe rg this Satu r day wUI be as big a thrUl for him as it is for his team. On the coachinp llnes for Calhoun, w ill be veteran Hurry Bierman.
