To date plans are fast approaching an end whereby a gala day of sport and entertain- ment will be offeredi to the resi- dents throughout the city, county and adjacent communities. In sub- mitting this schedule of clean, in- teresting sport the fact was not lost in its arrangemets whereby it would appeal only to the fasti- dious but has been planned primar- ily to embrace every man, woman and child, the program involving some line of sport which will be of inteerst to someone whether it be baseball or horseshoe pitching. To date it has been suggested to have bands, parades, motor boat races, greased pole and greased pig contests, races, horseshoe and quoit pitching competition, base- ball, football, boxing, dancing and a host of other numerous enter- tainments. During the morning of this holi- day the \Down River Boat Club\ and their speedy outboard motors will assemble in front of the Oswe- gatchie Yacht Club and Riverside Park and compete. i& a series of races for a suitable prize to decide the champion of the summer cruises. Considering the hot, close- ly contested races put forth each Sunday on the Bentley course down the river theso races promise to develop into great sport and keen interest for the public who have not been so fortunate as to have had the opportunity of wit- nessing this manner of aquatic en- tertainment. A number of races have been arranged both scratch und handicap besides comprising a tree lor all. Simultaneously with the Out- board Motor races there will be held a horse shoe and quoit pitch- ing elimination on the Yacht (Hub grounds for the various addicts of this popular recreation. It is the intention of the committee in charge to decide once and for all the time honored argument of sin- gles, doubles and team champion- ships of the various neighborhoods throughout the city and if possible involve county competition. Win- ners of these matches are eligible to enter the Syracuse State Fair Championships and indications pro- mise keen arguements. So far over twenty to thirty pitchers have sig- nified their intentions to enter the lists and advance assertions have it that the champion wiil not be crowned without a supreme strug- gle. Prospective champions not al- ready signed for the matches may procure entrance by registering with Robert Jameson of the Jame- son Mcintosh Store, Ford street. In addition to the morning motor boat, races and horseshoe pitching matches there will be rigged out on the Yacht Club dock where all may view, a very tough assign- ment for some enterprising young man or youth in the way of a long slippery, greased pole. At the end of said pole will be nailed a suit- able money prize as an initiative to the presevering one who suc- ceeds in reaching the outermost tip. As to dress. A standard bath- ing suit. Overhauls, trousers, jac- kets, sand and all foreign matter designed to facilitate the walk are barred. Later in the day a greasy pig will be permitted to run stam- peded and whosoever holds him may lake him home for the win- ter. At high noon it has been plan- ned to have a great street parade comprising all manners of floats, clowns and novelties and ably led by several local and imported bands. The organization develop- ing the best float will be awarded a handsome memoir of the occa- sion. In the afternoon football and baseball will be offered which will no doubt develop into interesting amusement and high class compe- tition. Teams of A-l calibre are be- ing asked to appear. That evening a great boxing earnival and wrest- ling show will be staged, made up of at least six bounts. Also if plans materialize followers of the fistic game will be able to view one of the greatest heavyweights In the game and a top notch welterweight of national reputation.
