ACE Small Engine Repair Although the ground hog has seen his shadow, we will without a doubt have spring. Before we even realize it, our lawns will require weekly mowings. Perhaps, that old lawn mower was quickly stored away last fall in need of repair. In this time when our economy is at a low, one must learn to become their own mechanic. The Adult and Community Education (ACE) program for Salmon River Central School will be offering a Small Engine Repair (lawn mowers, etc.) course on Monday eve- nings for six (6) weeks be- ginning March 2 — April 6 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the SRCS Metal Shop. Mr. Rees White will be instructing. A limit of eight (8) individuals will be accepted. Pre-registration is required and a fee of $20 is necessary at registration. CPR Classes Learn a very basic life saving technique, by attending a Cardiopuimonary Resus- citation (CPR) class being offered by the Adult and Community Education Pro- gram of Salmon River Central School. Scheduled to begin on Thursday, March 5, for four consecutive weeks, from 6 to 9 p.m. in Room 105 of Salmon River Central School, Middle School Complex, this Certifiable American Red Cross course will be instructed by Carol Gardner. A fee of $12.00 (payable to American Red Cross), and a fee of $3.00 (payable to SRCS), is required for new individuals. Individuals seek- ing a Refresher Course in CPR will be required to pay a $6.00 fee (payable to Amer- ican Red Cross), and a $2.00 fee (payable to SRCS.) Ad- vanced registration is nec- essary and can be made by calling 358-9516. Fly-tying Workshop Soon the lure of the fishing season will be upon us and fishing enthusiast will be readying their equipment to catch that big one. Too assist the fisherman in making their season a prosperous one, the Adult and Community Education program for Salmon River Central School will be offering a Fly-tying workshop. In- structed by Allen Washburn (one of our own North Coun- workshop will be held on Wednesday evenings March 11th, 18th, and 25th in the High School Art room of SRCS from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. This workshop will entail instructions for beginners, and also for the pros, dis- playing materials for making patterns of wet flies and demonstrating their use by tying this type of fly. In- structions for tying nymphs, Renowned Choir Coming to Malone The International Chil- dren's Choir will present its \Musical Tour Around the World in Song and Dance\ at the Malone Junior High School on Feb. 25 at 7:30 p.m. This talented young group, ranging from age sixteen and under, represents thirty coun- tries around the world. Their purpose is to spread the mes- sage of their theme song, \Let There Be Peace On Earth and Let It Begin with Me.\ The Malone Arts Council is very proud to sponsor this gifted young choir as part of its concert series. Tickets for this event are $7 for 1 general admission, $6 for senior citizens and $3 for students. Then join us in a dynamic group discussion to learn practical techniques for raising children for a program called Responsible Parenting. In cooperation with Frank- lin County Cooperative Ex- tension Program, the Adult and Community Education Program for Salmon River Central School (ACE) will be offering this responsive parenting program. Scheduled to begin Tuesday, March 10 — April 28th (except March 24 and April 14th and April 21st), this program will be meeting in the Elementary Teachers Lounge of SRCS from 7 to 9 p.m. This program offers infor- mation and practical tech- niques for a positive approach to parenting. The sessions focus on discipline and com- munication. Parenting con- cerns that will be discussed are Children's Feelings; Sib- ling Rivalry: Children and Sex; Children's Fears; Ages and Stages; Divorce and remar- riage; Responsibility, Inde- pendance, and Cooperation; Self-Esteem; and Helping Children with Death.
