Page 2-December 11,1986-Fort Covington Sun-Fort Covington, N.Y, RICHARD BROWN'S DAUGHTER was in the office this week to obtain a few copies of last week's issue where a picture of her father as a very young man was printed. MY DEAR JOHN LACOMBE, I just have to print this charming quote from your letter: \I recall a relative came down from Tupper Lake one Thanksgiving and he gave us each 15C to go to the movies. It was snowing real hard, big flakes, and the movie was ct Rin Tin Tin\ which I will never forget. In those days, there was no sound, just captions on the screen and Marian Campbell played the piano for effect. My cou- sin, Rolland LaPorte used to genuflect before he took his seat, like he was in church, much to the amusement of the audience. MR. LAPORTE was in the office a while back and I believe he told me he graduated in the Class of 1930 or 31. How can the board put in a motion to appoint two new numbers when that motion was defeated at the previous meeting? How come the motion was not rescinded? 2. Why were Mr. Lewis, Mr. Kerwin and Mary McDonald in Mr. Lewis's office before the meeting? What happened to the public election you told me you preferred? W r ho changed your mind? 3. Why was Ian Mitchell put back on the board when he was defeated before? 4. Four or five members on the board have said that the boardmembers should not question Mr. Lewis's recom- mendations. Why are they on the board? 5. Doesn't the board have the right to check on the school employees and ask questions? 6. What is the school policy regarding bomb threats? 7. Isn't it a coincidence that Mr. Lewis's car is similar to the school car? 8. Why are there so many executive sessions held during a meeting? 9. Who 7 got the 3 free passes from the San Francisco trip taken last year? 10. How do you go about hav- ing free elections in the school? I feel that the people did not like the way the board voted in new members. P.S. It is nice to see more con- cerned people attending the meetings. How about some from Westville? Harold Lauzon Letter The Letter to the Editor by Joe Herbert in the issue of Dec. 4, 1986 was cleverLy written, but it struck a negative note in my heart. I know that things are not well in our world but I find that ridicule, demeaning expressions, and sarcasm are not really part of the solution to improve \genuine humanity.\ To me the \fog and smoke\ thickens. Peace, Fr. Rolland Hart. Friday — Hot dog on a roll, potato chips, pork and beans, apple sauce, whole or skim milk. Jvlenu prepared by Mr. Elliott's fourth grade.
