The 33-hour refresher course is certified by the New York State Health Depart- ment and will be led by instructor Wilma Harwood. The class will meet Mondays and Thursdays from 7 to 10 p.m. through the end of May. The course will cover the general needs for refresher candidates in addition to updating training to present standrds for Basic EMT certification. Personnel providing emer- gency medical services in the field, such as certified ambu- lance personnel, emergency room nurses, fire departments with rescue squad members and ski patrol members are candidates for EMT training. Covington, died at the Alice Hyde Hospital in Malone on April 13,1986. Bora on Feb. 5,1901, he was the son of Michael and Jenny Elliott Smiddy. He was mar- ried to Florence Kelly on May 25, 1924 in Sodus, N.Y. She predeceased him in 1979. Mr. Smiddy worked at Shields Slipper Co. for 38 years and retired in 1964. He was also a farmer and a member of the Fort Covington Presbyterian church. He is survived by five sons: Gerald, Raymond, Paul and Gene of Ft. Covington and Leonard of Malone; two daughters, Mrs. Kathleen Gudgeon and Mrs. Louise Pelotte, both of Syracuse; 14 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was prede- ceased by two brothers, John and George two sisters, Mrs. Clifford (Elizabeth) Miller and Mrs. George (Eva) McElwain. Funeral services were held at the Cosgrove Funeral Home in Ft.
