Willis of Constable, N.Y., has been assigned to Chanute Air Force Base, 111., after completing Air Force basic training. During the six weeks at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, the airman studied the Air Force mission, oganization and customs and received spe- cial training in human relations. In addition, airmn who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Commun- ity College of the Air Force. The airman will now receive specialized instruction in the aircraft maintenance field. * He is a 1985 graduate of Franklin Academy High School, Malone, N.Y. That's healthier for your child, doctors say. There are now 14 confirmed cases of rabies this year in Franklin County, according to Dr. C.W. Van Deusen, county rabies control co- ordinator. Dr. Van Deuseri reported* the latest three cases this morning, a fox and skunk in Bombay and a cow owned by Freda Cook of the cook Road on the St. Regis Indian Reservation. The doctor said the cow exhibited symptoms of rabies and had to be destroyed. Tests on it confirmed rabies. The 14 cases include 10 foxes, two skunks arid two POLJnCALADVERTISING POLITICAL ADVERTISING Vole Republican Town Of Bombay cows. Most of the cases have centered in the Town of Bom- bay. Neiqhbormq Brasher, in St. Lawrence County, has had several rabies cases this year. The latest cases involved \no human exposure that 1 know of/' Dr. Vein Deusen said. He said incidents of rabies \seem to die down in winter.\ Foxes are a prime carrier, he said, because younq foxes, born in the spring, migrate in the fall. He said the cook cow had apparently been exposed to rabies while pastured. Dermatologist joins area hospital staff A dermatologist has joined the medical staff to Canton- Potsdam Hospital and will be the only dermatologist practicing between Syra- cuse and Plattsburgh. Dr. Jay F. Schechter, a graduate of Pennsylvania State University Medical Sc- hool, will hold hours Tuesday and Wednesday each week, beginning Nov. 21, sharing space in Dr. John Austin's offices at 36 Leroy St., Potsdam. While opening bis practice in .Potsdam, Dr. Shcecter will continue his affiliation with the royal Victoria Hosp- ital of McGill University, Mon- treal. A native of White Plains, Dr. Schechter received his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth. He served his internship at Royal Victoria Hospital and also residencies in both internal medicine and dermatology. He was also selected to serve as chief resident in dermatology. Dr. Schechter is board cert- ified both internal medicine and dermatology. While in medical school, Dr. Sche chter was chairman of the board of directors of the Harrisburg Free Clinic, Harrisburg, Pa. He has also worked for several years part-time in the Massena Memorial Hospital emerg ency room. Dr. Schechter, who is single, has not yet estab lished a residence in Pot sdam.
