ESM teacher James Slowik's data base program, \Atomic Catalog,\ was used by students to study the periodic table of elements. In addition to analys ing the oxygen family's peculiar properties, students also pre dicted the properties of the theoretical element 114, ekalead. With the assistance of Teddi Arnell of Otselic High School, the students used a computer to monitor changes in the tempera ture and PH balance of fluids. This project necessitated con struction of a computer inter face, a module relaying informa tion from the probe, which is in serted into the fluid, to the com puter itself. Tien Cat, Jeffrey Palmer, Jeanette Vesz, and Dale Wright, are participating ESM students in Marvin Druger's program. ESM teachers Cliff Emke and Mary Pickerton also took part in the event.
