Nickerson , Yacli t Master , Dies Was Master As Youth—Com- manded Munition And Hos- pital Ships In World War C aptain Frank G. Nickerson , master of th e \Coronet , \ Irving T. Bush' s yacht , died nt his home , 165 P rospect P ark West , Brooklyn , last Saturday. He was 06 years old and had spent ' most of his life at sea. For ' many ye ars Capt. Nickerson has been com- ing Into Port Jefferson harbor with p leasure yachts and at one time he and tils family made their home In port Jefferson. Born at Tiverton , R. I. , C apt. Nick- ' erson- came of a sea faring family, and at 21 commanded his first vessel. Dur- ing the World War he was for a time , comtnarider of the munition ship \Peter H. Crowell\ and later saw ser- vice on the \Mercy \ a hospital trans- port. Early i n 1029 he went to Kiel , where the \Coronet \ a 187-foot ves- sel d riven by two Diesel engines , was built , to superintend her construction. Soon after the craft was launched he took her on a cruise of the Mediter- ranean and elsewhere to test her sea- worthiness , and after touchin g at many ports , brought her to New York in the fall. He is survived by a widow , Mrs. Ma r- garet Nickerson ; two sons , George and Willi am , and three daughters by a for- mer marriage. Funeral services were held at his late homo Wednesday morning at 10 :3O. Burial took place in Flushing cemetery. The second round will be played August 23 and 30. Belle Terre G arden Club As September Is drawing near we must keep in mind the Lons Island Flower Show at Gordon City, W ednes- day, September s!x:cc° .i th , from three to nine p. m, and Thursday, the seven- teenth , from ten a. m. to six p. m. There will be sweepstake prizes for clubs that win most awards; also entries for juniors with prizes of money. Division D , which includes Suwassett , Belle Terre , Three Village , North Suf- folk and Asharoken , is offering (en dollars for the most educational exhibit on conservation entered by any Club.
