D-F Bowling Team Now Leads League Last Friday evening the Dur and Feeds Bowling Team rolled against „the Rotary Team at Can andaigua, taking all three games during the evening. This put Dur and Feeds in first place in the league, and marked several high for the team. Mr. Max Riegel. local chairman, announces that while the quota*set for this com munity was not filled, the villas did respond well to this plead, contributing a total of 80 pints of blood. The quota had been set at 120. After arriving at Benjamin Franklin School last Friduy, we found ourselves in a large aud itorium with many other stud ents. Our purpose was to elect a president and viee-presidnt of the United States and also makf* a party platform. After our dinner, eaten at the cafeteria of the high school, we re-assembled to have all th'. planks road aloud and to vote upon them. Now it was time for the cam paign speeches wliich had been prepared by the pupils who re presented different states. The campaign speeches were con cluded and each stale voted ac cording to its electoral numbev. Our group representing Hawaii was given three votes and we added these to the many others. At the meeting last Thursday plans were completed for the Annual Ladies' Night which will be held next Thursday, April 29. Driscoll Post 809 of the Ameri can Legion held last Thursday evening, it was voted to hord the Memorial Day services during the morning of May 31 ’ rather than during the afternoon. It has been the custom in Clifton Springs to hold these services in the after noon. but on suggestion of .sev eral citizens it has been decided to conform to the customs of other villages anti cities in hav ing this program during tht morning. The Legion has asked the Rev. Frederick G. It is expected that several other village or ganizations will take part on this dhy. Memorial Day, or Decoration Day^ asy it is sometimes -called, wa* inaugurated in 1868 by Gen eral John A. Logan for the 'pur pose of decorating the graves of Civil War veterans. The exerds- ,es; were formerly conducted by members of tjie Grand Army of -'the Republic, but are now under the- auspices of the American Legion, and the graves of all American soldiers are decorated.
