L ondon , Nov. 6.— Captain Bjonness of the Norwegian bark Nor, from New York, for Stettin, which was In collision with and sunk the steamer Snxmundham olf Cowes, dis claims responsibility for the accident. He says the Saxmundham ran into the Nor while the weather was perfectly clear. The crew' of the Nor remained on the bark for eight hours after the accident. They then aban doned her. It the main track JBDW DOWN B T TICE U O R S B a iEy, Old Joseph Kroger Crushed to Death hy Drsinken Riders. F lushing , L. I., Nov.6.—Apartyof sixmen appeared in Flushing, L. I.. Saturday night. They were all mounted on mettlesome horses ind the riders were considerably under the Influence of liquor. They belonged to a rid ing academy in Brooklyn. In front of the Flushing hotel they rode abreast, dashing through the streets at a headlong pace. Pe destrians were terrified, and many ladies tainted. Opposite Shuck’s saloon they drew np six abreast, still howling. Suddenly their leader gave tho command, “Lot her go,” and they gave rein to their horses. Joseph Kroger, a gardener, 50 years old, was cross ing the street, and in an instant he was crushed under the hoofs of the horses. The men paid no attention to their victim, i t a gallop they passed tlirough Flushing and ascaped. The Flushing police wore imawaro i)f Uio crime. lYhen Kroger was picked up he was dead. Dr. Lawreueo said that three of tho ribs on tho left side had been crushed in and the pressure upon tho heart caused death. Coroner Chartior was notillod and Impaneled a jury, who viewed tho body. Tho inquest was adjourned. Two of tho party who caused tho death of Kroger were recognized as John McCormick and a man named Moyer.
