Tho com plainant charged Goldstein forging an in dorsement to a cheek dated May 9, 1888, drawn on tho Importers and Traders’ bank for tho sum of $637.28. Attached to the com. plaint was a written confession of the accused Goldstein presented to his employers fox their signature n c heek drawn t o the order of Marshall & Briggs. Accompanying tho cheek Avas a fraudulent invoice for the goods for which the chock purported to bo In payment. Mr. Gr.ienebaum supposed it was all right and signed the check. Goldstein then al tered it so that tho payee appeared as Meyers- hall B. Ballggson, indorsed It aud drew the money. It Is said that he repeated the same swindle I many times before his srod.
