The topic was ''Fishing,\ the season having opened on May 1st. Those who had attended Council Day gave their reports. The Mont- vert Club then voted money to purchase a copy of the town history which is to be put inthe school library of the Middletown Springs Elementary School. Cold Spring Grange #427 Cold Spring Grange #427 met at the Grange Hall in Wells, May 11, 1972 with Worthy Master Emily Thomson in the chair. This was neighbor's night with Pawlet Grange. The Worthy Master introduced our three State Officers, State Home Ec- onomics Chair man, Sister Belle Decker;State Jr.Deputy, Jennie Stewart and State Deputy , Agnes Braymer. After the business meeting a very nice lecturer's hour was done by Lecturer AlfceHaskins of Pawlet and Bertha Day from Wells. A flute solo was rendered by Kath) Denko, ac- companied by Jennie Stewart on the piano. Readings, games, etc. by both Granges followed. A blind auction was held and $15.75 was added to the trea- sury, George Hull wasauction- eer. Models Are Named For GOP Show The Washington County Re- publican Women's Club has an- nounced the names of the models to show the latest fashions at their Spring Luncheon and Fashion Show on June 3, 1972. Luncheon will begin at 12 noon at the Queensbury Inn in Glens Falls. Grange Sewing Contest The Sewing Contest for Wash- ington C ounty Granges was held on May 13th at North Granville Grange Hall with 16 garments being judged in three classes. The Judges were Mrs. Carolyn Webber of Salem, Mrs.Faublan Mercure of Hartford and Mrs. Karen Roberts of Granville. First place winners in each Class whose garments have been sent on to the State Con- test to be held May 23rd in Gilbertsville are: Class A - Mrs. Vivian Bor- den, Pleasant Valley Grange, South Cambridge; Class B - Miss Barbara Argyle, non-member sponsored by Ar- gyle Grange; Class C - Mrs. Beverly Stannard, Pleasant Valley Grange. Country Gals 4-H Club By Nancy Flint,News Reporter Mav 13 was Walk-@a-thon and many CountryGals participated, All walked at least 3 miles or far- enough to get a certificate. Nancy Flint, Jane Day, Jessica Day ,Gail McNell Bridgett Ellis, Dorothea Craig, Debbi Craig, Lori Rogers, Dara Migliore and Merrisa Migliore - struggled anywhere between 5 @andll mtles (they have blisters to prove 1t). Other West Hebroners who walked were Steve Waite, Jim Flint, and a dog, Tip Flint. The trio completed the 25 miles and will receive trophies, They completed the distance in just less than 8 hours and were the 9th, 10th, and lith walkers to arrive back at Argyle, Mark Migliore, another West Hebron- er also walked.
