Refreshments will be -erved by the second grade i nothers Holland Grange to Have Booster Night Saturday The Holland Grange will meet next Saturday evening, November 5 at 8:30 o'clock. This will be Booster Night for the unit and all members are asked to make special effort to attend. Henry Bowers, Pomona Master, w>ll be the speaker of the evening. There will be games, music and re freshments. This is an open meet ing and anyone wishing to attend will be welcome to come and see what the Grange is like. It's Round-Up Time In Wyoming County The Wyoming County annual Agricultural Extension member ship round-up will be held at the new Attica' Central School Satur day evening, November 5 at 8:00 o'clock. The program will include: turning in of 1961 memberships; some outstanding local talent pre senting 'nstrumenal selections, vo cal numbers and tap dancing; re freshments; report on membership and recognition of winners irj the membership contest; round and square dancing. The contest this year is designed to have all communities compete against each other. The winning community wfll be th e one that turns i n the VaTgest percentage of last year's membership. All members and those desiring to become members are invited to bring their families to enjoy the round-up. Letchworth Central Elementary Schools to Hold Open House Each of the Elementary Schools of th e Letchworth Central District will hold its annual Open House prior t o Thanksgiving. At Castile the school will be open from 7*30 to 9.00 p . rn. on Monday, November 7. At that time children may bring their parents and friends to visit school and meet their teachers and other parents. The i Icctoral vote was 180 to 123 Here in Wyoming County the vote was 4.498 for Lincoln and 2.393 for the i ther parties. Mr Lincoln carried i.ll the Townships of Wyoming County but Java, there he lost by 28 votes. The total vote for the nation was Lincoln, 1,866,452; Douglas, 1.376,957; Breckenridge, 849,781, and Hell, 588, 879. Can a house so divided against itself hope to btand? Libraries Vote to Join ©operative System Over the past year the Trustees of the Arcade Free Library have been considering the advisability of joining with the other seven libraries of Wyoming County in the formation of a County Library Co operative. At a joint meeting the library trustees of -the county held early this year a County, Commit tee, with Dr. Warren Hanson of Warsaw as. Chairman, was set u p to make a thorough study of the ad vantages to be gained by', such a cooperative effort, and the steps that would have to be taken should such a County Library b e formed. After interviews with library boards already operating in a County Cooperative System, this committee unanimously reported in favor of forming a Wyoming Coun ty Cooperative Library. It was found that State aid is based o n population served and, for Wyoming County to receive the maximum State aid, if would be necessary for this county to join orie of the systems already in op eration. The Pioneer System, with ad;, ministmtivc office in Rochester, and Comprising the . counties of Monroe, Wayne and Livingston is regarded a s a model in the State. Application to join this system was made and accepted. Such a n arrangement would give Wyoming County State aid for ad ministrative and book purchases a s follows: For organization expen ses, $20,000.00; Annual Appropria tion, $30,000.00. Each library In the system would continue its own individual ad ministration under its own budget as heretofore. In September a request wa s made by the libraries of Wyoming County to the Division of Library Extension of the State, requesting that the Director call a meeting of the trustees of all Wyoming Coun ty Libraries to consider the forma tion of a Wyoming County Library System. This meeting was called for No vember 1 and wa s held In the Auditorium of Thompson Hall at the Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw, at which sev en of the eight Wyoming County Libraries were represented Twenty-nine trustees were in at tendance. Present also-,were Henry G. Shearouse, Acting Director of the New York State Library and Miss Jean Connor of the Library Extension Departmept. Over 400 hatchery men and sales personnel convened from all over the United States and Canada to se e the latest in poultry research and to tour the 1534 acre DeKalb research farm at Illiopolis. Sullivan of Arcade; Mrs. Mildred Shaffner of Bliss; Mrs. Charles VanArsdale of Castile; Julian Hanley of Perry; Mrs. P. Flint of Pike, and Mrs. R. B. Titus of Wyoming. A meeting of the Wyoming County librarians with the Living ston County librarians was se t for 10 00 a. m. on Wednesday, Decem ber 7, at the Mt. Morris Library, at which time library procedures under the new system will be ex plained. Following adjournment of the meeting the newly elected trustees met with Miss Jean Connors. Dr. Warren Hanson and Julian Hanley were chosen a s temporary Chair- nian and Secretary respectively. Forms'were then executed making formal application to the Board of Regents for its approval of the establishment of the County Co operative Library The trustees then set November 15 as the date of the next meeting of the trustees to consider the budget, contracts, etc. in preparation for prompt action on receipt of the charter If the charter i s granted a t the November meeting of the Board of Regents it is expected ma t the County Library can be In operation by January 1. Annual Meeting of New York Farm Bureau to Be Held At Syracuse Plans for the 45th Annual Meet ing of the New York Farm Bureau, to be held in Hotel Syracuse No vember 14-16, have been announced, according to William Hamilton, Wyoming County Farm Bureau President. \The meeting will start Monday afternoon, November 14, with a series of conferences in the fields of Organization, Commodities, In surance, and Women's Activities,\ Mr. Hamilton reported. Speakers scheduled for Tuesday, November 15, according to the County President are: Les Glblin Sales Consultant; Charles A La- Forge, Manager, Plant Protection and Security, General Electric, Schenectady; Hon. He in formed the members that if they should have problems at any time they may discuss them with a rep resentative who will be at the Town Hall in East Aurora every Thurs day from 10:00 a. m. to 1:00 p. m. or at the Sprlngville Town Hall the second and fourth Thursday of each month. The regular meeting followed Mr, Larkiri's talk, at which time, it was voted to retain the name \Golden Age'Club\ for the group. A vote also carried to have membership cards, to be available in the near future. Thanks and appreciation were extended to Mrs. Emma Werner for her services as President. She has done a spendid job and will be greatly missed, for she will soon move to make ber home in Florida Mrs. Henry Struwe will act as President and Director of the club.
