The annual meeting of the Arcade liml and Gun Club was held in the A & A offices Tuesday evening. There was a large attendance of local sportsmen and visitors. BLISS-CASTILE ROAD FIRST ON PROGRAM. Road building in Wyoming county the coming year promises to be active if even a part of the roads talked about is placed under contract. The Attica-Varysburg road, which has been under construction for the past two years, undoubtedly will be com pleted during the coming session. Difficulties were experienced with quicksand, so \it was not possible to lay the concrete until the fills had settled sufficiently to make them per manent. Another road, the one from Portageville to Fillmore, is in the same condition and has bean graded and surfaced with gravel for two some Intss had been planted by the tlub during the past year. Mr blbert Parker gave a report • of the Reforestation activities in the • •county and throughout Western New York, in which he has had a most prominent part. Mr. Parker was given a rising vote of thanks for his splendid enorts in this important work. It was announced that a forestry meeting open ,to the public will be held in Arcade, on Thursday evening, Yebruary 9, at which representatives of the State will be present with slides on this subject. Infatuation for a slender figure is causing a\ steady growth of tuber culosis deaths among Women between 18 and 35 years, says State Health Director Rawlins. She was the second daughter of Stephen Swett and Maranda. Thorn ton Langmade and was born in the town of Yorkshire on the Langmade farm now owned by Mr. Howatt. When sixteen years of age she was married to Riley Weeks, who pre ceded her in death. To this union were bom,four children of whom only one surviv_es._Mxs._Nettic E. Jewell of Venice, Calif. She is also sur vived by her brother, G. Wallace Langmade of Pasadena, Calfi., and four sisters, Randa V. Spillman of Blue Mound, Kan., E. May Butler of Niagara Falls. N. Y.; Grace Whiting of Delevan, N. _Y., and '.Bertha Lowe binsj September 23, 1903. They canre to Arcade twenty-four years agj>, where they have made a wide ciffeJ3 of friends. Three children wei*. ljorn of this union, one son, Alvfn. om daughter, Pearl Letitia, who died in infancy and one daugh ter, Ellen Luella, who, together with Mr. Gubbins survive to mourn the loss of a loving, devoted - wife and mother. Mrs. Gubbins was a member of the Arcade Methodist Episcopal church. MRS. HANNAH REESE , _. D of Mansfield, Pa., as well as 'four J Johns and family. Rev. Hariss offl Mrs. Hannah Reese of Farmersville passed away at the Buffalo General hospital, whei-c she nad been taken for treatment. She had been in poor health for some time but her condi tion was not considered serious until about three weeks previous to her death. Funeral services were held Sunday at the home of her brother, T. ~ grand children and five great grand children. She was devoted to her family and to the* Universalist church in which beautiful faith she died. v Her funeral was held in the Cre matory Chapel at Santa Monica with only her daughter, -her grandson, Dana- Jewell, her brother and family and a few California friends present, ciated, assisted by Rev.
