PINGREY'S ANNUAL BOOKLET ISSUED \The job of the .church is to spirit ualize the whole of life,\ said Dr. Joseph M. Artman, speaking at the closing session of the New York, State Sunday School Association Con vention in Buffalo, Friday evening. Dr. Artman is Secretary of the Religious Education Association, a unique organization made up of Catholics, Protestants and Jews. It is doing pioneer work in research in order to find out ways in .which strength of character may be develop ed in children. \The test of the success of a Sun day School is the way in which its children behave during the whole week, Dr. Artman said. \A child may be self-centered to start with If his religious education amounts to anything, his selfishness will give way to his growing concern for others. \Character and behaviour are the same thing. Week-day Schools of Religion should forget creeds and dogmas. If we develop a child's in tellectual keenness and riot his sense of responsibility for the community, we leave him half-baked—not really educated. \Religious education develops concern for humanity. The child': spiritual growth is by stages. The final stagers active good-will toward .his follow country men and .toward tho world, good will strong enough to overcome his natural selfishness. , . . , v \Are the Sunday Schools in New properly reg.itered.
