Y.—Wednesday, July 22,1970 llMM 2 Chain Reaction On Route 16 At about 12\45 p.m. on Monday, u car made a sudden stop on Route 16 Its brake lights were not operating so (lie driver behind it was almost on it before he realized the situation Paul Grzybowski, driving a truck operated by Niagara Frontier Services Inc. jammed on his brakes and avoided sinking the car but his truck went into a skid striking a grader parked beside the road then swinging Into the on-coming lane where two cars were struck and badly damaged Roy Ehrenberg of Holland, driver of one car was taken to Chaffee Memorial Hospital in the Holland Ambulance He was treated for a broken collarbone and later released Clarence Farnum of Cattaraugus and Constance Lipp of Holland were also admitted to the hospital Mr. Farnum is in fair condition with a back injury and facial lacerations. Constance Lipp has multiple lacerations and contusions. Advisory Board Named For Citizens Central Yorkshire Branch Anson F Sherman, president of The Citizens Central Bank, Arcade, announced the following appointments to the Advisory Board of the bank's new branch office in Yorkshire William Brown, Creek Rd., Last Concord, associated with the New York Telephone Co and also in the dairy and beef i at lie business. Mr Brown was born in Spnngvillc and served in I he paratroopers during World War 2 He is the treasurer of Pike Feeder Sales and is an Erie County director of the Cattlemen's Association Byron E Fisher, Chaffee, a co-owner of Coe-Fisher Lumber, Inc. Holland Mr Fisher is treasurer of Chaffee Community Baptist Church and a charter member of the Memorial Volunteer Fire Co , Chaffee-Sardima, as well as a charter member of the Chaffee-Sardinia Kiwanis Club. He is also a member of the Chaffee l.O.O.F. Lodge and the Arcade Masonic Lodge 419 John P Morrison, Delevan. vice president of Morrison Pioneer Central District Approves $5 Million Budget Orientation Program Planned For New School Board Members The County School Boards Association of Cattaraugus, Erie and Wyoming Counties is sponsoring a New School Board Members Orientation Program on July 22, July 29 and August 5. Each of the three meetings will be held at the South Area Vocational Center on Windfall Road in the Town of Olean. Each session will be chaired by Claris Persons of Pioneer Central School District, will begin at 7 30 p.m. and should conclude by 9 30 p.m. The program on July 22 will cover. \The Role and Function of School Board Members\ The main speaker will be Professor Leo Keenan of St. Bonaventure (Continued on pnge sixteen) One hundred voters were in attendance at the Pioneer Central School annual meeting Tuesday, July 14 and approved, 86-14, the $5,935,1 36 budget for 1970-71. They also re-elected Joseph Reisdorf and Claris Persons as trustees for 5 year terms. Arthur Carlson, chairman of the Erie County legislators, and qualified voter from the Sardinia school district of Pioneer acted as chairman and helped interested persons have questions answered about specific items in the budget. The president of the school board. Jack Marsh of Yorkshire, directed the message from the board to those present and went into detail about the fact that the district will have paid back $3 million by October in the cost of the building program, leaving a debt of SI.7 million He also reminded the group that the St. Patrick's parochial school, Java Center, will send its students to the Arcade building, having closed in June. \It is anticipated that the tax increase will be about $2 per $1000 true value,\ he promised. Tellers at the voting which took place immediately following a question and answer period were Gerald Roberts, Robert Thomas, Emery Howell and Howard Krist Arcade Village Power Interruption Friday vj The Village of Arcade has announced that service work is being performed this week on relays and circuit breakers at the village's Bixby Hill substation. On Friday, July 24 there will be a short power interruption on each circuit as circuit breakers are interchanged Motors, Inc. in Yorkshire, has served as chairman of the Arcade Community Chest Drive, president of Delevan Businessmen's Association, and is currently a vice president and director of the Arcade Area Chamber of Commerce. Thomas C Ronan, Arcade, treasurer and a director of Diamond Saw Works, lnc Mr. Ronan attended St. Bonaventure University and is active in community'and civic affairs He is a member of the Arcade Kiwanis Club Walter F. Schiener, Jr, Sardinia, co-owner of the Sardinia Supply Co and supervisor of the Town of Sardinia. Mr Schiener is active in the community as a charter member, past president and director of the Chaffee-Sardinia Fire Co and past commander of the Sardinia American Legion Post. He has been chairman of the Memorial Day Program and the American Legion Boys' State for the past fifteen years, as well as past president and current member of the Chaffee-Sardinia Kiwanis Club. Mr. Schiener is a member of St. Jude's parish and is active in the local Cub Scout program. Mr Sherman noted that the appointments bring to the bank a wealth of experience and community-civic interest. It is through men like these, he said, that the area will develop and prosper Tri-County Times Photos New Bank Building An artist's conception shows the First Trust Union Bank Building at Yorkshire Corners as it will be when completed. A temporary office for the bank will open this Thursday, the 23rd. It will be staffed by Terry Kline, assistant vice president and general manager, Edwin Madden, assistant trust officer and assistant manager, Kathleen Davis, receptionist and secretary and Eleanor Conaway, teller Mr Kline announced banking hours from 10 a.m to 5 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 10 a.m to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, 10 a.m to 7 p m on Friday, and 9 a.m to 12 noon on Saturday All banking services will be offered in the trailer bank, except safe deposit box rentals Mr Madden, an experienced trust officer said, \First Trust Union Bank has been in the trust business since 1917 and offers this service through its branches to the people of the areas served For the first time corporate trust services wfll be available to the Yorkshire, Arcade, Delevan, Sardinia and Holland area \ Both Mr. Kline and Mr Madden plan to move their families to the area soon.
