At approximately 915 am., Monday the 29th Ethel Mitchell turned left off of North St. onto Curriers Road into the path of a vehicle driven by George Ling of Delevan. Mr Ling was not hurt but both cars were extensively damaged Fire Destroys Machias Barn Fire of undetermined origin completely destroyed a large frame barn on Pigeon Hill Road, Machias about 9 30 p m Wednesday, June 24, which was owned by Delphtn Tinguc Sr Lost in the blaze was a large quantity of baled hay, with the hay conveyor Soon after the Machias Firemen arrived on the scene, Fire Chief Floyd Dalton summoned the Delevan Firemen for assistance. ARCADE POST OFFICE TO CLOSE FRIDAY NOON H James Hyland, postmaster, has announced that the Arcade post office will close at noon on Friday, July 3 in observance of Independence Day Mail will be dispatched at 5 pm on Friday, July 3 and at 9 a m. on Saturday, July 4 and Sunday, July 5 There will be no incoming mail on Saturday and Sunday All outgoing mail for dispatch after noon on Friday must be deposited in the box in front of the post office, Mr Hyland said First Union Trust To Open Temporary Branch Bank In Yorkshire First Trust Union Bank's temporary trailer bank was moved on location on Route 16, Town of Yorkshire, at the corner of Westover Ave during the past week. It is currently being equipped and will be open for business soon, according to an announcement by C. Lloyd Tyler, senior vice president of the bank, who has bqen named supervisor of the branch by the directors Mr Tyler is also manager of the bank's Franklinvillc office Equipment of the trailer bank will include a drive-up window, a night depository, three teller stations, and two private offices for manager Terry H. Madden (Continued on page sixteen) Psychology Instructor For Frankfinville Extension Program Orville W Johnston, administrator of the Franklinville division of the State University Agricultural and Technical College at Alfred has announced that Dr Floyd F McCallum w.UJ be the instructor in psychology at the Franklinville Extension Program of the college Dr McCallum is chairman of the psychology division ^t Houghton College and will teach part-time Dr McCallum received his A.B from Greenville College, Greenville, III and his M.A , EDO from Michigan State University He has taught at the high school through graduate course level, teaching in the areas of psychology, philosophy and education in counseling Dr McCallum has been at Houghton College for the past three years as chairman of the division of psychology District Rejects Proposed Rushford Central Budget A proposed budget of $614,507 for the Rushford Central School District was turned down 126 to 106 last Thursday by district voters. Grant Willey, a son, awakened about 2am Tuesday and heard the sound of flames He roused his father and mother who, in turn, woke up two other children and the whole family fled safely The fire spread so rapidly they were forced to flee in their night clothes and saved absolutely nothing A faulty electric circuit is suspected No estimate of damage has been made as yet Property Recovered Arcade Police * recovered builders supplies and equipment from the Arcade Rural Cemetery at the end of Prospect St The equipment belonged to Clark Plumbing and Heating Co of Olean They are working on the addition to Motorola Crowned Dairy Princess Of Wyoming County Miss Penelope Fisher of Warsaw, was crowned Wyoming County Dairy Princess. First runner up was Miss Jane Randall of Silver Springs and second runner up. Miss Linda Chamberlain of Wyoming. Prizes were $100, $25 and $15 Princess Penelope is 18 years of age, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Fisher She will graduate this June from Warsaw Central School with science and language majors and plans to attend Genesee Community College in Batavia. The Princess was crowned by New York's 1970 Dairy Princess, Miss Marsha Anderson of Kennedy. The many working committees and the cash contributions from farmers all combined to make the very successful event. Each contestant received a gift of a silver plated milk tumbler. The Princess will appear during the year at local gatherings around the county, where she'll be boosting dairy product consumption. To book her for a group call Mrs. Ray Chamberlain of Wyoming.
