Details of the plan, which was first announced last year, are being mailed to telephone customers in the following exchanges- Angelica, Arcade, Belfast, Belmont, Bolivar, Cuba, Ellico ttville, Franklinville, Friendship, Hinsdale, Limestone, Machias, Olean, Rushford, Salamanca and Wellsville. The company is asking each customer to study the plan and then return the enclosed reply card within two weeks, indicating approval or disapproval Frank T. Gaglione, Olean area manager, and Thomas B. Greene, East Aurora area manager, both of whose areas are affected, said a substantial majority of customers in the area would have to favor the plan before it could be introduced. \Broad public support is necessary before embarking on this plan because it would affect telephone charges for all New York Telephone customers in the region,\ they explained. Mr. Greene explained that the New York Telephone Co. had decided on an expansion program which would provide each community or exchange with toll free services in a 20 mile radius of the community and that this would take precedence over other requests for expansion, such as including Arcade in the Buffalo (Continued on page tlx) PARENTS RESPONSIILE FOR VANDALISM OF THEIR CHILDREN Pioneer Central School has advised that parents are now financially responsible for acts of vandalism of their children When apprehended, the case may be taken to Family Court to decide the manner of payment Construction Co. of Buffalo has the general contract. Wheeler, Publisher ^ 28 ' 19? ° Tn-County Times Arcade, New York 14009 Dear Leibee This letter is in reply to your \Publisher's Letter\ of May 20 commenting on student riots. 1. I am not sure of the percentage, but believe, as you indicate, that it is small 2 I would like to know what the FBI is doing regarding communistic leadership of student riots. 3 It will take years to change the impact of Supreme Court decisions since Franklin Roosevelt's time It appears that President Nixon has taken the first steps for this with his appointments. 4 News reports indicate that some of our national guardsmen have not been well trained. I believe that our law enforcement officers deserve our support, but that they must act responsibly. 5 It is not too late for college officials to act firm ly. Fair, but firm, discipline is needed 6 Students can help tremendously in restoring order to the campuses by attending classes and using schools for educa tional purposes in a calm, orderly atmosphere 7 Publicity will continue to be associated with violence Objective reporting would help a great deal Sincerely, Frank WalkJey Thank you, Frank, for giving us your views. Your constituents will be interested in your comments and I am sure will back you all the way
