Previously the Faculty Association negotiating team was demanding $7100 as a starting salary. The Board team had proposed $7000 The teachers' team, headed by Jerry Bucka, however, returned with an entirely new salary demand beginning at $7400 with increments ranging from $300 to $500 The two teams had agreed on a $100 differential for a Masters Degree in the field of teaching but Mr. Bucka returned with a demand for $250. Personal Days at district expense also are an issue. The Board is willing to grant the teachers two days as at present for personal business but asks that a reason be given for the request. The teachers do not want to give reasons. Also at issue is extra pay for the additional services performed by teachers These include advisors to classes, plays, yearbook, newspaper and the Future Farmers of America of the agriculture department, chaperoning students for all events, and assisting at athletic events. Both teams had reached prior agreement on a sick leave policy but the teachers' team changed it at the last meeting. A PERB official will arrange the next meeting of the two teams.
