Charles Goodell, a flag which once flew over the United States Capitol was presented Monday morning to the student body of the new Pioneer Central School at Yorkshire. Main Street, Springville Adult Education At Lefchworth Central Adult Education classes will begin at the Lctchworth Central School Monday, October 6 Courses to be offered on Monday evening from 7 30 to 9 30 p m are Lcathcrcrafl high school equivalency, sewing and swimming. Swimming will be divided into beginners swimming from 7 30 to 8 30 and advanced swimming from 8 30 to 9 30. On Tuesday, rug hooking will be taught. At least 10 persons must enroll and attend for a course to be organized and continue. Registration fees for all courses eveept swimming arc S3.00 per course Swimming is $6.00 per course. Monday, September 29 has been set as registration night On this evening the office will be open for personal or telephone registration from 7 30 to 9 30 The three hour pre-licensing classroom individual program is given when a sufficient number from the district request the cour.se If you desire this course, call the school office and give your name, address and telephone number When a sufficient number cad, a class will be funned and members notified Offshore Drilling Opposed By Democrats At its September 12 meeting at Sardinia, the Squth Towns ^-e^irr-o-c-r^tre^O rganizaUon unanimously passed a motion that the secretary write to Govcnor Rockefeller urging that lie request legislation prphibiting offshore drilling for gas or oil in Lake Erie. This action was taken because recent hearings have shown the potential danger of pollution from offshore drilling. Such legislation would take from the Department of Conservation the power to authorize offshore drilling. Permanent Personal Registration Days Registration in the counties covered by the Tri-County Times will be as followsjn each election district In Wyoming County October 3 from 1 to 10 p.m and October 4 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m In Cattaraugus County October 3 from noon to 9 p m and October 4 from 10 a.m to 10 p.m In Eric County October 2 and October 3 from 10 a.m to 10 p.m. and October 4 from 7 a.m to 10 p.m. To Open Bids On BOCES North Area Center Construction bids will be opened by the State Dormitory Authority at its Normanskill Boulevard, Elsmcrc, N.Y. offices on October 8, 1969 for the Board of Cooperative Educational Services of Cattaraugus, Erie and Wyoming Counties (BOCES) North Area Occupational Education Center The bidding procedures will begin the construction phase of the new occupational center to be located 3 miles northeast of EUicottville on Route 242. Voter approval for construction of the North Center was given in the 13 school BOCES district referendum last April 2. The North Occupational Education Center is designed to serve pupils and adults from Cattaraugus, Ellicottvillc. Little Valley. Pioneer, Randolph. Salamanca and West Valley school districts. It will replace temporary rented facilities located in the Little Valley area and will provide space needed to expand and improve the present program The center will be separated into three structural uinits to give complete judio control necessary because of the varying levels of concentration rcijnircd for the many different subjects The low level sound building will Itousc the busincvs and distributive subjects, also the health, child cure and food service courses as well as the cosmetology dejiarlment These courses would be isolated Iriini areas of higher sound They also require. BOCES officials have pointed out. areas of greater cleanliness as well as dusf and fume control The high level sound building will house the auto and building trades and industrial drafting courses. Y. and Citizens Central Bank to Affiliate Former Arcade Pastor Returns To Speak The Arcade Baptist Church will\ hold a special service of dedication next Sunday, September 28, at 4 p.m. to celebrate the redecoration of its church sanctuary A coffee hour will follow the service. The Rev John Riley of Lowville will return to be the speaker at this special service. Rev Riley was pastor of the Arcade church from 1920 to 1930 and also served the Chaffee Baptist Church before retiring from the ministry The public is cordially invited to attend this service Cattaraugus County Membership Campaign Elizabeth Williams, recently named press representative of the Cattaraugus County Farm Bureau, reports that Lloyd McLouth has started a promotional program to advance the importance of the Farm Bureau as a contributor to the Cattaraugus County economy Mr. McLouth is the chairman of the 1970 membership campaign in the county It is significant to note that New York State produces over a billion dollars worth of food and fibre annually The New York State Farm Bureau, the largest farmer organization in the state representing over 60% of the state commercial farmers, points out the benefit to the economy where New York State farmers spend over $800 million for local materials and services. Assisting Mr McLouth in the promotional campaign will be Mr and Mrs. Dale Scnn, Randolph, Mr and Mrs Joseph Guzzetta. Perrysburg; Mr and Mrs. Paul Linsler, Ellicottvillc, Mr and Mrs. William Langlcss, East Otto, Mr and Mrs. Duanc Dcdrick. Dclcvan, Mr and Mrs. Ben Martin, Portville Anson F Sherman, president of The Citizens Central Bank of Arcade, announced that the .Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System had approved the affiliation of that bank with Charter New York Corporation. Charter is a bank, holding company whose present affiliated banks are The Irving Trust Company of New York; the Merchants.. National Bank and Trust Company of Syracuse; The Endicott Trust Company of Endicott; and the Dutchess Bank and Trust Company of Poughkcepsie. Earlier this month. Citizens Central's affiliation with Charter had been approved by. the New York State Banking Board. Mr Sherman said that affiliation with Charter New York should strengthen the bank's capital and provide a broad range of banking services including public, instalment, and construction loans. He also foresees the establishment of a personal trust department and the addition of branch offices. Mr Sherman said that the Board of Directors of The Citizens Central Bank would meet soon to arrange a meeting of stockholders to vote on affiliation with Charter New York. Holland Students Honor Mr. Brumsted The students of the Harold O. Brumsted elementary building at Holland Central School paid tribute to Mr Brumsted on Monday, September 22, the first anniversary of Harold 0.
