Fisher, chairman of the board of Fisher-Price Toys, Inc. in East Aurora announced Monday an agreement for the acquisition of 1'lsher-Price by Quaker Mr Fisher, the controlling stockholder in Fisher-Price, has agreed to sell all of his shares to Quaker for cash, contingent upon a similar offer being made by Quaker to all other Fisher-Price stockholders A proposal will be submitted t o the Quaker Oats board of directors for approval in the very near future, Mr Stuart said It is expected that Fisher-Price will operate as a subsidiary of Quaker, retaining its present plants, management, employees and identity Iishcr-Pricc is a manufacturer of toys for prc-school children, distributed largely through toy, variety and department stores The company was founded in 1930 and has a reputation for toys of very high quality and durability Fisher-Price had sales in its fiscal year ended January 31, 1969 of over J 30,000.000 • Neighborhood Youth Corps Students At Holland Central * Nir.steen needy students of Holland Central School are being employed this summer in a variety of jobs under the Neighborhood Youth Corps The Neighborhood Youth Corps is a work-lcaming program established under Title IB of the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 One of the prime purposes of the program is to make it possible for disadvantaged young men and women to remain in school by affording them an opportunity to earn some money and to support themselves at least partially A second important purpose of the program is to provide job training for the young people and to instill- in them good work habits The students employed at the Holland Central School this summer arc gaining work experience in a wide vancty of jobs They work as office assistants, custodians, food service helpers, assistants to the bus mechanics and as groundsmen The Holland program is not limited to the summertime but continues throughout the school year During the summertime the students may work a maximum of 26 hours per week, but during the school year they are limited to 15 hours per week 4- Niagara China was awarded the steam cooker bid with the low amount of $2,275 00 Also bidding was Meyer Lquipmcnt, (nc A discussion according to Mr Edwards, was held at tliis board meeting about the proposed legislation in Congress regarding the possible witlulrjssal of privileges ol issuing tax exempt municipal bonds or notes The Hoard went on record as opposing such action because or the resultant increase in cost to school districts to borrosv monies Copies of the resolution will be forwarded to Congressman James Hastings and Senators Jacob Javits and Cljailes Goodcll The $400,000 bond anticipation note authorized by the voters this past spring has been arranged for with the Manufacturers and Traders I'rust Co .
