CE POST Vel VH - No. 28 Represented Nationally by U S. SUBURBAN PRESS INC. In Its Seventh Year of Publication $3.00 per Year 15 Cents per Copy Thursday, November 29, 19793 Set After a year of study, the route for the southern part of the Greece north-south inter- ceptor sewer has been established. It will run beneath Saddiehorn Drive. Alternate routes had been considered, according to John R. Hoff, Greece's coun- try legislator representing the area. The Saddlehorn Drive route, however, was . chosen bacause it will least ~ disrupt the residential neigh- borhood. About 1,000 feet of the roadway will have to be torn up Irwin Brodeli, director of the county Pure Waters Agency, said soil samples will be taken to determine how deep underground the line will be placed. The interceptor, which is still held up by lack of federal funds, will be six miles in length and will join the existing east-west inter- ceptor near Lake Ontario Parkway. Only the southern end runs through a populated area. That's what lack of public furds for bus operatuonal purposes could mean, accor- ding to Howard Gates of the Regional Transportation Authority The recent election death knell of the State Transpor- tation Bond Issue has left the local Regional Transit Service in a precarious postion, Gates said. Hopes for at least a temporary sub- mdy to contimue the present service rests on the cooperation of the county government, he added. A Jan 1 cutback of service and an increase of fares is threatened. With the excep tion of the Park and Ride and the Diai-a-Bus services, the bus operation would have to be cut back by 40 percent -- mast of this would be in the suburbs. The shortening of bus lines would mean that bus tran sportation would be wholly a aty service, Gates said. Rochester is the only large cty in the nation not receiving public funds for operational purposes, Gates deciared. Capital expen- diture funds have been more available. It may take until next Spring to obtain a subsidy through the County Legisiature, Gates said.
