The came was the climax of the Homecoming Festival at Livonia. HFL took the kickoff, and turn the ball over on a third down fumble. Livonia took the ball down to the seven yard line, where on fourth down Bob Stewart attempted a field goal, which was wide. HFL's Ron Photo by Jack Haley I Bartoo broke up two possible touchdown passes to force the field goal attempted. \Ron · Bartoo is a very good athlete,\ ; Girolmo commented. The Bulldogs held HFL · on their next posession and force : them to punt. 'A bad snap forced : HFL punter Mike Mehan to fall · on the ball. Four plays later : Livonia quarterback Brady : Masterson hi'i sophomore Matt Young on a 22 yard touchdown pass. Bob Stewart's extra point was blocked by Ron Bartoo. HFL turned the ball over again on fourth down with ,another bad snap on the punt attempt. This time the Bulldogs had the ball on the seven yard line. This Friday the Bulldogs will travel to leRoy to take on the Oatkaen Knights, while HFL will host A von on Saturday. Best and Worst in Local Sports travel allover Livingston county to watch the high school football action· and here are my observations. BEST FOOTBALL FIELD: The best football field in Livingston County is Hamilton Field at Caledonia-Mumford Central School. The groundskeeper, Dan Toland, has the field manicured to perfection. A close second has to go to Livonia. BEST LIGHTING SYSTEM: Without any question the best lighting system has to go to Avon. The lighting system there is the newest and brightest in the county. BEST CONSESSION STAND: Food has to be one of my favorite subjects and the decision for best concession stand has been made by my taste buds. The stand is located on Bulldog : Boulevard. The winner is ~Livonia. It took just one bite of itheir hot dogs to make my choice. 'BEST BOOSTER CLUB: \ ' Hands down it's the booster club at . Honeoye Falls-Lima. Honorable mention goes to Avon. BEST FANS: It's a three way tie for this catogorey. The winners, in no particular order are Avon, HFL and Livonia. The fan support at these three schools is fantastic. Whether it's in the rain or sun these three schools should be proud of their fans. BEST COACH: My little secret, I'll never tell. BEST NEWS COVERAGE: I'll let you decide. BEST UNIFORMS: Tough choice. I like Livonia's and HFL's jersey's. THE BEST OF THE WORST WORST LIGHTING SYSTEM. It's a two way tie between Caledonia and Dansville. These two schools might see a lot of action . in the WORST CATEGORY WORST FANS: No competition it goes to the Maroon and White from Caledonia-Mumford. The fans are not happy ul)less the Red Raiders are crushing their opponents, and God forbid if the Raiders are losing, the fans just hit the highway and desert the team. WORST UNIFORMS: Again Caledonia tops the list. The only reason is their pants. You think a town and school that boasts so much about their winning tradition could wear some decent pants. by Jack Haley WORST CONCESSION STAND: The worst one is off Rte 36 in the town of Dansville, I don't know about you but going though a bus to get my food does not appeal to me, WORST FIELD: Due to contractand personnel disputes this award gocs to A von, One man is forced to groom the field along with the rest of the schools property, The grass on the field is to long and theres to many ruts. Chargers ... Continued Irom page 8 Belec had 5, Robert Dunham, Mike Francis, Jim Pribanich, Jason Sahrle and Kyle Wolcott all had 4. Erin Corcoran, Todd Lewis, Joe Sacco and Keith Foxton had 2 and 3 respectively. The two defensive safetys, Jamie Miller on the left and Todd Lewis on the right, should each be credited with stopping two Genesco touch- downs. Jamie Miller ran down a Genesco running back arid tackled him 5 yards from their end zone and Todd had a great solo tackle that stopped Genesco on their two yard line. H is obvious that when this team pulls together and plays together, the end result will aI ways be the same; VICTORYI DiIRECT\ORV HF-L.
