Miss \ iolet Hoyt, accompanied by ler friend, Miss Cecil Haire, both of Rochester, spent'Sundsy with her sis ter, Mrs. Geo. M. Stoddard. Cbas Crist was home from the Stenben Sanitarium, at Hornell, where he is receiving treatment, over Sunday. Charlie has not as yet reached tbe rapid road to reoovery. About fifteen members of the Af ternoon Study Club were ilS Castile Saturday to attend \Reciprocitv Day\ of tbe Women's clubs of that village and were right royally enter tained Tbe pupils of tbe 7th and 8th grades of tbe Silver Springs High School, who have been earning money in var ious ways, have purohased a fine graphonola of tbe local agent, Jas. A. Coihett N Mr .md Mrs. E. F. Denton expect to lean- tomorrow for Streator, III., to spend a few weeks with their daughter, Mrs. C. W. Luce, and fam ily and get acquainted with their new grandchild. Miss Vera Meens, Lloyd Pike and Cla> ton Husted were in Bradford, Pa., Friday, Saturday and Sunday attending tbe District Epworth League convention, as representa tives from the local League. Miss Marguerite Whelan spent the week end in town and attended St. Mary's dance. Mrs, J. E. Mash en tertained a number of 'young people Saturday evening in honor of Miss Whelan and Driscoll and Miss Mary Dettitt. C. E. Luce went to Boffalo Sunday and Mrs. Luce, who bad been receiv ing treatment at the Lafayette Hos pital, returned home with him. Mrs. Lhce is somewhat improved, bnt is still quite weak from tbe treatments administered The dance given by the Sacred Heart League of St. Mary's church Friday nigbt was largely attend ed and all had a very pleasant time. A delicious supper was -served, tbe music was good and all enjoyed themselves to tbe utmost. Mrs W H. Davis and daughter, Miss Naomi Davis, left for their new home in Canisteo Monday morning and Adelbert Davis left Friday morn ing Mr. Davis and family are ex cellent citizens and their removal from our village is sorely regretted, bnt we wish them the best of success and much happiness in their new home. vVDIiam O'Connor has given up his position as baggageman at the Erif depot and has been succeeded by G'o. R. Balconi of Castile. John Bigpart, who has been the helper at the depot, has left to help his father on the farm. No one as yet has been secured i n his place. Earl Morgan's brooder house caught fire last night and was burned togeth er with over 100 young chicks. Mrs. S. R. Marsb spent several days in Rochester last week with her daughter, Miss Elizabeth Marsh. Mrs. A. N. Utter entertained her sister, Mrs. F. 0. Milligan, and son of Rochester several days last week Heenan Howard, formerly of this place, bas purchased Dennis Harripg- ton's house and lot on Miner street in Warsaw. Bert E. A Silver Lake correspondent says tbat Miss Johnson, daughter of Rev . Johnson of Siljfear Springs, will have charge of the Ho'ag art gallery this season. J. Elmore Ingleby, who is attending tbe Rochester Business Institute, bas been eleoted captain of the R. B. Mr. and Mrs. Call are soon to move from Scheneotady to Hartford, Conn., where he will continue in the employ of the General Electric Co. George Nugent, who has been work ing for the Doponts, is visiting his mother, Mrs. Jas. Baker. George was employed as guard at the powder factory at Carney's Point, N. J., for some time and later went to tbe plant at Norfolk, Va., but it didn agree with him there. Julius Hogue, a former resident of the town of Hume, who has been spending many years in the west, was the guest of W. W. Scott Satnr day night and Sunday. Mr. Hogue was one of the party who went t o the Klondike with the late W. R. Piatt of this place.
