The same -«« lre > ln * ««ed wherever the nner of the Epworth League Afternoon Study Club. The first meeting of the After noon Study Club for the season of 1915-16 was held at the home of Mrs. L. H. Humphrey Tuesday afternoon. The program consisted of a reception ~by the executive board, a greeting from the presi dent, Mrs. H. D. Hathaway, roll call—summer memories or travel, followed by music and a social hour. The new year books were distrib uted, the program for the year be ing a miscellaneous one. The of ficers for the coming year are Mrs. D. Hathaway, president; Mrs. A. H. Clark, vice president; Miss Belle Clark, secretary and Mrs. S. R. Marsh treasurer. The execu tive committee consists of Mrs. Hathaway, Mrs. Humphrey, Mrs. Monroe, Mrs. Piper and Mrs. Clark. There are now twenty one mem bers in the Club and the coming year promises to be a very profit able and interesting one for the members. Democratic Nominees. The remains of John Whalen of this place, who died suddenly in Warsaw last Wednesday, were ta ken to Batavia, where the funera was held Friday morning in St Joseph's Roman Catholic. church Rev. Father Wilbur officiating The burial was in Batavia. Mr Whalen was born In Wyoming Dec. 21, 1861, a son of Thomas and Mary Fitzglbbons Whalen. He is survived by three brothers, Mor ton and Mike Whalen of Warsaw and Jeremiah C. Whalen of Buffa lo, and a sister, Mrs.' Nellie Wig gins of New York. \ We know Now. Mrs. Ellen Coddlngton, who bad resided in Nunda and Tuscarora for many years, died in Batavia Oct. 2nd, aged 81 yeare. R. A.
