Three crews are employed here In switching cars. When the new D. & H. round bouse, for which plans have been prepared, is constrncted, a number o f freight crews now located at Oneonta will be permanently transferred to this place. Edgerton officiating. Deceased was a nephew of Mrs. Daniel Pemble and formerly resided here. Ht was 28 years of age and is survived by a wife. Justice Baxter’s bill o f $891.60 against this town was cut down to «M9 25 by board of auditors. The bill had been Signed to H. 0 . Bailey. Justice Baxter appealed to the board o f supervisors and a committee will examine his bill. The postrfflee was broken into Thurs day morning and $200 worth of stamps and one registered package were taken. Entrance was gained through the front door by means of s jimmy. It is sup posed that the theft was committed by the. same gang that has robbed offleea In adjoining towns. The town auditors cut Deputy Sheriff Woodworth's bill against the town from 8866.22 down to $624. 97. Deputy Sher iff Cnrlev’s bill was cut from $107 98 down to $03.05. Both officers appealed to the supervisors bat without snccess. The auditors are determined to check certain town abuses that have hitherto flourished under forms o f law. Nearly forty o f our prominent citizens have been responsible for ten dollars each to maintain a lyceum course here the coming winter. Tbe executive commit tee consists of Principal Hlnman, Rev. B. H. Carson, Rev. S. W. Edgerton. David Newland, Wm, W, Smith, A. T. Pack, James E. Carver, Thos. F. Morris. A course o f at least four entertainments Is assured, and the price o f course tickets will probably be one dollar. The course will doubtless prove a great success.
