LeClair hit Joel Irvine with a six-yard strike, then found Bobby Oakes for the two points. The Indians, however, always seemed in complete control. \I told the kids that, traditionally, we play well in the first half of these games, but then have trouble in the second half,\ said Ewald. \The kids really played a good second half this time.\ Marbut, who rushed for more yards in the sec- ond half (138) than OFA gives up in an average game, ripped off gains of 18, 27 and 12 yards. Then, with the drive apparently having stalled, he took a fourth-and-7 p[itch and lofted a pass to a wide open Duprey in the\eridzone. Marbut capped the scoring with a 3-yard run in the fourth quarter, then caught the two-point conversion pass. Ogdensburg hadn't given up more than 19 points in any game this season, surrendering just 69 in the entire regular season. Judge favors New Mexico recruit ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A judge ruled Friday in favor of New Mexico recruit Kenny Thomas, granting a preliminary injunction blocking the NCAA's denial of eligibility for the freshman. The 6-foot-9, 255-pound power forward, whose eyes brimmed with tears when the decision was announced, immediately headed off to practice. \I'm happy that this is over with and I get to play. I just want to go to practice this afternoon,\ Thomas said. The decision, greeted with applause and cheers, came after 2Yi days of testimony by of- ficials of UNM and the NCAA and by Thomas. State District Judge Daniel Schneider found that Thomas; considered one of the nation's top 15 freshman basketball prospects, would suffer irreparable harm by not playing this season. The NCAA had said Thomas couldn't play because a science course he took as a nin- th-grader at Austin High School in El Paso, Texas, in 1991 did not qualify as one of the 13 core curriculum courses required by the NCAA for eligibility. Thomas lost two NCAA appeals be- fore going to court. If the lawsuit should make it to trial and Thomas should happen to lose, UNM would not be liable to NCAA sanctions, Schneider ruled. He ordered the NCAA to take no action against UNM. College hockey Friday'* Colltg* Hockty Score* By Th» Associated Prats IRA S.
