(Betty) Mahar, 83, of Col- ligan Point Road, Cumberland Head, died Friday, Feb. 26, 1988, at her home. She was born in Plattsburgh on July 5. 1904, the daughter of Michael and Elizabeth (Hanlon) McGaulley. Mrs. Mahar was a battlefield registered nurse with the U.S. Army in World War II, serving in the European Theater of Operations. She was a member of the DAV of Plattsburgh and the American Legion Post 20 of Plattsburgh. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Connie Gleason and Eileen McGaulley of Plattsburgh and two nephews, Michael I. McGaulley of Washington D.C. and Emmet Gleason of Platts- burgh. Three brothers died earlier: Thomas, Clarence and William McGauley, all of Plattsburgh. Calling hours will be at the Brown Funeral Home Sunday only from 2 to 4 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrat- ed Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Marys of the Lake, Cumberland Head. Burial will be in the fami- ly plot in Mount Carmel Ceme- tery. Memorial donations may be made to the Father Ritter's Covenant House, New York Ci- ty. Henry A* Gowett PLATTSBURGH - A mass of Christian burial was celebrat- ed Friday morning at St. Josephs Church, Treadwells Mills, for Henry A. Gowett, 71. of Melody Lane, who died Tues- day, Feb. 23. 1988. at the CVPH Medical Center. The Rev. Gilbert Boisvert, pastor, celebrated the funeral mass. Bearers were Patrick Romeo, Herbert Primo, Steve Gowett, Ron Howard, Timothy Slattery and Donald Rock. Spr- ing burial will be in St. Peters Cemetery. Remie L Bell PLATTSBURGH - Remie L. Bell, 82, of Oak Street, died Fri- day, Feb. 26, 1988, at the CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Redford on Ju ly 5, 1905, son of the late James and Emma (DeFayette) Bell. Hi was a communicant of St Peter's Church and was employed for many years in the power house at Plattsburgh Air Force Base. He is survived by his wife, the former Cora Pellerin, Platts burgh; three stepsons, Victor Bell of Plattsburgh, Roland BeU of Redford and Floyd Bell of Plattsburgh; two stepdaughters Mrs. Samuel (Joyce) Tedford of Saranac and Mrs. Allan (Jean nette) Seymour of Plattsburgh two sisters, Mrs. Anne Walsh and Mrs. Lena Guimond, both of Plattsburgh; and 18 stepgrand children, seven stepgreat-grand children and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A mass of Chris- tian burial will be celebrated Monday at 9 a.m. in St. Peter's Church. Spring burial will be in the parish cemetery. Elsie B. Arthur KEESEVILLE - Elsie B. Ar- thur. 88, of North AuSabie Street, died Friday, Feb. 26, 1988, at the CVPH Medical Center. She was bom in Schenectady Jan, 3, 1900, the daughter of Isaac and Margaret (Ostrander) Burgess. Survivors include a son, Chester Arthur of Keeseville; and two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be at the convenience of the family. Donations in her memory may be made to the Keeseville Rescue Squad. Arrangements are by Bailey Funeral Home, Keeseville. Violo M, Beouhornoif PLATTSBURGH - A mass of Christian burial was celebrat- ed Friday morning at St. Peter's Church for Mrs. Viola M. Beauharoois, 81, of Champlain Street, who died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1988. at the Sacred Heart Nursing Home. The Rev. Gerard Tetreault OMI, pastor, celebrat- ed the funeral mass. Pall bearers were Robert Trombley, Donald Trombley, James Lynch, John Pelkey, Richard Giguere and William Kirby. Presentation of the Eucharistic gifts was by Adam and Aaron Kirby, great-grand- sons of Mrs. Beauharnois. A large delegation of St. Peter's Altar Rosary Society, the Legion of Mary and the Catholic Daughters Court Mary Im- maculate Chapter 479 acted as honor bearers. Spring burial will be in the family plot in St. Peter's Cemetery. Hubert W. Mussen KEESEVILLE -Services were held Thursday at Im- maculate Conception Church for Hubert W. Mussen, 79, who died at his home Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1988. The mass of Christian burial was celebrated by Monsignor Morris Dwyer, pastor of Im- maculate Conception Church. Bearers were Robert DeGroat, Niles McNierney, Tom McNierney, Everett Ezro, Jack LattreU and James King. Burial will be in the parish cemetery in the spring. Myrtle K. Sheehait SARANAC LAKE - Myrtle K. Sheehan, 80, of 20 Church St., Saranac Lake, died Friday afternoon, Feb. 26, 1986, at the General Hospital of Saranac Lake. She was born Sept. 19, 1907, in Chateaugay, the daughter of John W. and Mary L. (Beard- sley) Kavanagh Sr, She was a graduate of Chateaugay High School and the Chateaugay Training Class, and was a graduate of Potsdam State College.
