Press-Republican—Tuesday, August 14,1984 Deaths, funerals Salvador A. D'Onofrio SARANAC LAKE - Salvador A. D'Onofrio, 66. of 35 Prospect Ave. died Sunday evening, Aug. 11, 1984, at the Saranac Lake General Hospital. He was born Dec. 14, 1817, in Saranac Lake, the son of Joseph and Rose (Martone) D'Onofrio. He had been a salesman-driver for Sealtest and Rosebud Creamery, retiring in 1979. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army. He was a member of Veterans of Poreign Wars of Saranacrtake, Elks Lodge 1508, and East Branch Rod and Gun Club. His wife, the former Barbara Hale, died earlier. Survivors are a sister, Mrs. Clarence (Mary) Duprey of Saranuc Lake; two brothers, Thomas of Saranac Lake and Louis of Albany; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held at the Fortune Funeral Home 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. An Elks service will be held at 7:30 tonight at the funeral home. A Bible vigil will follow at 8 tonight. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wedmesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Yon- jovig officiating. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Alfred W. Forrette ELIOT, Maine - Alfred W. Forrette, 58, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 1984, at the York Hospital in Maine. He was born on Feb. 28,1926, in Brattleboro, Vt., the son of William and Agnes (Wright) For- rette. Mr. Forrette was employed as a carpenter for the local Port- §mouth, N.H-. union. He was a member of the Northern New England Carpenters Union and Societe St. John Baptist in Dover. Survivors include his father, William Forrette of Ellenburg; two sons, Kenneth Forrette of Cut and Shoot, Texas, and Alfred Forrette Jr. of Eliot, Maine; one daughter, Mrs. Florence Lann- ing of Chesepeake, Va.; one step- daughter, Mrs. Zolanna Morris of Jonesboro, Maine; five brothers, Harold Forrette of Ellenburg, Donald Forrette of North Hampton, Mass., Maynard Forrette of Amsterdam, and Am- brose Forrette and Marshall For- rette. both of Westfield, Mass.; one sister, Mrs. Mildred Johnston of Malone; and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday in Eliot, Maine. Public Record Judge rules against New York couple MONTPELIER, Vt. (UPI) - A Vermont judge has ruled that a New York couple cannot sue a doctor for the cost of raising a child born after a failed steriliza- tion operation. In the ruling, apparently the first on the subject in state history. Superior Court Judge Warren County man dies in fire QUEENSBURY. N.Y. (UPI) — An elderly Warren County man died when he tried to put out a fire in his garage, authorities said. Douglas Luke, 66, of Queensbury died in the fire Sun- day afternoon. Luke was burning trash in a wood stove in his garage when part of the garage caught fire. He tried to extinguished the blaze, but was burned, authorities said. Luke was found sitting in a chair near the garage. An autop- sy was scheduled. Arthur O'Dea said he could not place a value on the life of a child. He agreed to a request by Dr. Henry Richmond of Bennington that a claim for $600,000 dollars to compensate for raising a child born four years after the opera- tion was performed be dismiss- ed. - The couple, Kenneth and Susan Begin of Berlin, N.Y., also sued the doctor for negligence, and asked for compensation for medical expenses and pain and suffering by both parents. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Ber- nard's Church in Lyon Mountain, with burial in the parish cemetery. Helen E. Barry KEESEVILLE - Helen E. Barry, 90, died Friday, Aug. 10, 1984 t at the Meadowbrook Nurs- ing Home in Plattsburgh. She was born in Penn Yan on July 31, 1894, the daughter of Patrick and Catherine McGrath. She has lived in Keeseville with her niece, Mrs. Willian Laduke, since 1980. She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Danniel (Isabel) McGraw, and nephew Danial McGraw, both of Bloomingdale, and five grandnieces and grandnephews. There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be held today at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Penn Yan. Burial will be in~ the parish cemetery. The Bailey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mark S. Greene SCOTIA - Mark S. Greene, 25, of Vley Road, Scotia died Satur- day, Aug. 11,1984, as the result of an hiking accident. He was born on Aug. 11,1959, in Morrisville, Vt., the son of Jac- queline Goff of Port Kent and Gordon F. Greene of Owensboro, Ky. Mr. Greene is a 1978 graduate of Scotia-Glenville High School and was employed by Fairchild Industries. Survivors include his parents; two brothers, Clark Greene of Schenectady and Robert Greene of Owensboro, Ky.; three sisters, Mrs. James (Michelle) Yeiser of Owensboro, Ky., Christi Greene of Norfolk, Va., and Mrs. Lyle (Sue) Parrigin of Bowling Green, Ky.; one stepbrother, J. Tom Warren of Owensboro, Ky.; paternal grandparents, Gertrude Greene of Keeseville; maternal grandparents, George and Mary Goff of Keeseville; two nephews; one niece and several aunts and uncles. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Alfred L Coron PLATTSBURGH - Alfred L. Caron, 45, of the Wallace Hill Road died Saturday evening, Aug. 11, 1984, at the CVPH Medical Center. He was bom in Plattsburgh on Feb. 6, 1939. the son of Alfred H. and Rita (Defayette) Carron. He was a member of St. Peter's Church and graduated from Our Lady of Victory Academy irr 1957. After four years of service in the United States Navy, he worked for General Dynamics, building missile sites. He worked 10 years for Sheridan Iron Works until his retirement due to disability in 1975. He is survived by his wife, the former Nancy A. Erno; a son, Eric Caron of Plattsburgh; two daughters, Mrs. Christopher (Jacqueline) Toufville -and An- drea Caron, both of Plattsburgh; his father, Alfred H. Carron of Plattsburgh; three brothers, Carlton Carron of Cheshire. Conn., John Carron of Platt- sburgh and Eugene Carron of Champlain; seven sisters, Mrs. Patrick (Marion) Myers of Red- ford. Mrs. James (Elaine) Squires of Morrisonville, Mrs. Thomas (Mary Alice) Reeves of St. Joe, Texas, Mrs. Neitand (Maria) Monk of Port Lavaca, Texas, Mrs. Bryan (June) Dashnaw of Schuyler Falls. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Eva Z. Breyette PLATTSBURGH - Eva Z. Breyette, 78, of 204 Lakeview Towers died Sunday, Aug. 12, 1984. at the CVPH Medical Center. She was born in Plattsburgh on Nov. 17, 1905, the daughter of Napoleon and Zora {Abare) Bon- neau. She wasmarried to Warren E. Breyette Sr., who died in 1977. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church. Survivors include four sons, Warren E. Breyette Jr. of Piatt- sburgh, Robert Breyette of West Chazy, Thomas Breyette of Milton and Donald Breyette; five daughters, Mrs. George (Simone) Tayjor of Pine Bush, Mrs. Helen Foy of Pennsylvania and Mrs. Sylvia Macey and Shirley Breyette, both of Platt- sburgh, and Mrs. Richard (Mildred) Ferraris of Pine Bush; several grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. Mansfield EAST TAWAS, Mich. - Brett Jerold Mansfield, 18, of 312 West Washington St. died suddenly Aug. 5, 1984, as a result of in- juries suffered in an automobile accident. He was born May 9, 1966, in Orlando. Fla., son of Ret. MSct. Jerry G. Mansfield and Sally Mansfield. He attended Peru High School from 1978-82 and graduated from Tawas Area High School in June 1984 with academic honors. He was the recipient of a special award in creative writing from the Tawas School District and had received top honors in Iosco County Youth Authors Competi- tion in 1983 and 1984. While living in Plattsburgh, he was employed at Rambach's Bakery. At the time of his death, he was a security guard at Gold Bond Building Supply in National City, Mich. Survivors include his parents; a brother, Keith Mansfield and a sister, Kathleen Mansfield, both of East Tawas; maternal grand- parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rex Allen, Lawrence, Mich., and Mrs. and Mrs. Donald Messinger, of Gobies, Mich.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services were held Aug. 7 at the D.L. Miller Funeral Home, Gobies, Mich., with the Rev. Paul Arnstrom officiating. Burial was in Kendall Cemetery in Gobies, Mich. Memorial services will be held in East Tawas, Mich., later this week. Maude Pelkey DANNEMORA — Funeral ser- vices for Mrs. Maude Pelkey, 96, of the Gene LeFevre Road, who died Thursday, Aug. 9, 1984, at the Clinton County Nursing Home, were held Monday morn- ing at St. Joseph's Church. The Rev. Roger Martin celebrated the mass of Christian burial. Burial was in the family lot in the parish cemetery where Mar- tin recited committal prayers.
