U.S. officials said the Commu- nist guerrillas came out worst m their two well-spaced attacks on the air base, losing 18 killed in the first and six in the sec- ond. Three Americans were killed in the first attack and five wounded. There were no reports of allied casualites in th second attack. The air base handles about 1,- 500 landings and takeoffs a day.
