However, the story is a weU- paced detective yarn about a magazine writer (Tony Fran- ciosa) who investigates the sup- posed suicide of an attractive girl, and gets his lumps before he unravels the mess. A small army of familiar faces flit in and out of the narrative, among them Jill St. John, Jack King- man, Lee Bowman, Nanette Fabray, J.C.
