Miss Nary - has played some of the songs of thes;e composers, such as parts from' the opera, “Carmen”, by Georges Bizet and many others. Some of these great people are Claude Debussy, who wrote “Clair de Lune”, and Georges Bizet, who wrote “Carmen”. The famous painting of “Mona Lisa”, by Leon ardo de Vinci; “The Angelus”, and “The Gleaners”, by Millet, also were studied. We have.Jistened to records of songs of famous composers, and- made reports on them.'We have gone to the art gallery and have seen protraits. and slides of these famous people. Ellyn Koprowski Mrs. Meyer’s Sixth Grade Maine Lobster Fishing In social studies we are study ing about Maine and lobster fish ing. AMobster gets caught in a trap on the sea floor. The trap has a marker *buoy so they know where the traps are. When a lobster goes to get the bait in the trap it squeezes in a one-way funnel and it can’t get out. A full trap isn’t always a good catch. Sometimes fish will be in the trap instead of lobsters or there will be some lobsters too small. The small lobsters have to be tossed hack in the ocean. Britton Road School In citizenship education, our class is l^udying modern educa tion, compared to education of long ago in New York State. We learned that formerly\ the schools ■were usually one-room buildings with pupils of all ages. The teachers were not as well trained as they are today. We are lucky to be able to at tend such schools as we have In Junior Scholastic Magazine we are reading about Congress. Congress does its Work in fEe capital, making laws, borrowing money, controlling trade, coining rnoney^ organizing armed forces and declaring war. We hope to know all there is to know about our government by the ^ijid of this year. Judy Thomas, James Campbell and Susan Miller Mr. Furstenberg’s Seventh Grade Wesi Ridge Sehool Mrs. Maw’s Secoifd Grade We have been busy in our sec ond grade room. Not long ago, Claudia Will brought in an electric chord c gan which she played for us. Mrs. Britton’s Kindergarten foi’ St. Patrick’s Day and Blaster.
