A. Holmquist, director of the divi sion of sanitation of the State Depart^ meet of Health. According to Mr. Holmquist, there are no floods at the present time in the upstate area but the warning has been sent out as a precautionary measure. “We are in the season or the year when swollen streams and perhaps floods may be anticipated and it urged that water works officials be the lookout for conditions which may affect the quality of their public water supplies”, Mr. Holmquist said in warning letter. “Pollution which has accumulated on the ground during fall and winter months may be carried quickly to water supply intakes by rapid stream flows. Wells or spring areas may be flooded by polluted streams and the water rendered unsafe for drinking purposes. ‘T tisiu thp late winter and spring months that unusual precautions should be taken to safeguard public water sup plies. Water filtration and chlorina tion plants should be placed and main tained in the best operating condition and every effort made to assure the de livery of a safe water. “Should any difficulties arise in the operation of your water supply please notify the State Department of Health immediately by telephone or telegraph so that an engineer may be dispatched if necessary to assist iu the protectibn or proper treatment of the water,” WELLS CHURCH NOTES Methodist Suuday Services 10:30 A. Transferring Prints on China 1750 Ceramic Art When the process of transfer' printing on china was introduced by Sadler and Green of Liverpool in Lot 10 way, . The process consisted of printing on pa per from an engraved copperplate and transferring the ink to the body of the article and glazing over the print. This new method superseded the old crude one of individual painting and enabled potters to dec orate their wares with artistic de signs at little cost, for the same design could be used over, and over. This naturally increased the demand for pottery wares and the new form of decoration was adopted by many of the potters of Liverpool, the Staf fordshire district, Leeds, Bristol and other potting centers. Many known e potters employed wefl- irtists and engravers of that ume. The result was a new pic torial art which depicted Elnglisli scenery, historical events, notable public buildings, distinguished peo ple and many other objects. Scenery painting, or rather en graving and printing, was a par ticularly happy phase of this art. The Englishman took great pride in his country and his home, and many of the models or designs were drawn from scenes around him. A not able table service made for the royal family at St. Petersburg in 1774 consisted of several himdred pieces, each one beautifully decoratr ed with a famous English country seat. . There were more than 1,200 different views and the value at the time it was produced was over 3,000 pounds. Balinese Love Their Island So much do the Balini island that very few ol ever venture far from it. They do not Care for what may lie beyond the rim of the sea. They constitute a little world unto themselves. They have few boats. They are not giv en to swimming, doing most of their bathing in brooks and small rivers. They do not catch much fish, sub sisting to a large extent on rice, in the production of which they are highly skilled. How to Prevent Odorous Glue Animal, or hot glue becomes of fensive to smell when left standi in the glue pot. In some cases, t glue brush binding and bristles are also at fault. Brushes should always be removed and washed when a job is done. To deodorize the glue put into it a few drops of oil of clove, wintergreen or cinnamon. These oils will not affect the properties of the glue. _______________ LANDS TO BE SOLD FOR TAXES VILLAGE OF SPECULATOR Under Sec.' 126 D Date of sale - March 20,1938 Notice is hereby given that I will ■ ‘ ............................ parcels of vertebrae, permitting the skull to jturn to the righi or left, and gliding, |as in the closely packed bones of the wrists and ankles. A clerk in a counting house in' the Virgin islands in 1772, Hamil ton wrote a detailed, vivid descrip tion of a hurricane which swept over the islands. Sent to friends in the American colonies, it was hailed with delight. The friends raised his passage money on the strength of his writing ability and Hamilton was brought to the colonies where he • completed his education and went on to become one of the foremost states men of his time. Myths Respected “We love the creations of our own imagination,” said Hi Ho, the sage of Chinatown. “Therefore we re spect our myths.” Justice Justice discards party, friendship, kindred, and is always therefore represented as blind.—^Addison.
