GAS ATTACK 9 Scene in the lobby of the Cleveland when the Clerk was overheard to tell the bellboy that there was a young lady at the Saturday Night Hop without a partner. $1,000,000 FOR IMPROVEMENTS HERE. Building Boom on to Increase Effi ciency of Our Camp. A pproxim ately $1,000,000 is being spent by the U n ited States governm ent in con struction work at Camp W adsw o rth, either under way or authorized, and it is said th a t this does not include the additional w ork planned on new buildings to be required when the additional territory is secured. Indications are th a t a large force of w ork men will be employed at the camp for m onths to come. Eleven new ward buildings, each 24 feet wide by 150 feet long, will be added to the base hospitals, with a num b e r of sm a ller buildings. These, w ith the buildings now un der construction, will increase the capacity of the hospital from 1,000 to 2,000 beds. E ight regulation ' regim e n tal infirm ary buildings, each two stories in height, are to be erected for the new regim ents of Pioneer infantry. The w o rk of installing the sew erage sys tem for the base hospital is still under way, but will soon be completed. The sew erage disposal plant is of the m o st m odern type. Nine large hay sheds, each approxim ately 60 feet wide by 240 feet long, are to be erec ted at a cost of about $5,000 each. The plans for the Liberty theater, to be erected by the w a r departm e n t's com m is sion on training camp activities, have been received, and work will be started on it soon. The building will be 60 feet wide and 120 feet long, and will have a large seating capacity. The recreation building for the Red Cross will he under construction soon, and plans are being made for a building for the Young M en's H ebrew Association. The w a r departm e n t has under considera tion the advisability of installing a sew er age system in Camp W adsw o rth. The con tractors have been inform ed they will be no tified a little later as to w h e ther the new buildings are to be equipped w ith sew erage plumbing. The plans of the w a r departm e n t for Camp W a d sw o rth do not seem to be fully developed yet, but every few days some ad ditional construction is authorized, and there is no longer any doubt th a t this is to be a perm a n e n t camp, and one of the largest in the country, if not the largest. All the new construction w o rk th a t is being author ized is of a perm a n e n t character. Some people think that barracks will be erected for housing the troops, and th a t tents will not be used longer than the com ing sum mer, but there has been no official statem e n t as to this as yet. AN ODE. TO AN O. D. PILL. You've heard of Doctor Munyon, T h a t wonder-working man W ith his cure for Epizootic And such troubles of the Lan', Who, w ith a root and berry And a b it of hark, you see, i Not to m ention sand im p o rted Upon a cam el’s misplaced knee Prom the H im a layan M ountains In far off heathen Chinee, Concocted him a potion W hich has been our own notion Of a medicine perfect For suff’ring humani-tee. No doubt, Doctor Munyon W ould he t h a t wonder still B u t for the discov'ry Of the O. D. Pill. Long and grand was his reign And his renown was wide, B u t when the “O.
