The strong football team of H e a d q u a rters Company, 105th Infantry, hung another scalp on its belt when it took the eleven of the 71st N. G. N. Y. into camp by a score of 24 to 0. Both team s were equally m a tched in weight but the superior training of the vic tors was soon apparent. Arndt, of the 105th, received the first kick- off and in six straight plunges at the line, his team m a tes succeeded in pushing it over the goal line. Schaible, who scored the first touchdown, started things going again w ith the opening of the second half. A fter the 71st had made three game attem p ts to hold back the line th r u s ts of the H e a d q u a rters backs, Schaible m anaged to get a free path around left end and w ent from midfield to the five- yard m ark before he was stopped. V annier took the ball the needed distance. Colleson scored another touchdown in the third pe riod. The last session was a whirlwind from start to finish. The New York City team made a tardy stand during which A rndt was forced to leave the game with a bad cut over the right eye. Ju s t before the final whistle, McGovern w ent over for the fourth 105th score. The victors showed up weak on the kicking art, losing all four goals. BASKET-BALL SEASON OPENED BY 74TH.
